<p>About the Role</p> <p>Location</p> <p>United States of America</p> <p>North Carolina</p> <p>Raleigh</p> <p>Remote vs. Office</p> <p>Office/Site only</p> <p>Company</p> <p>Siemens Energy, Inc.</p> <p>Organization</p> <p>Grid Technologies</p> <p>Business Unit</p> <p>Grid Solutions</p> <p>Full / Part time</p> <p>Full-time</p> <p>Experience Level</p> <p>Mid-level Professional</p> <p>Snapshot of a day</p> <p>As a Project Lead Engineer in Studies HVDC Control & Protection, you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for both wind farm grid connections and interconnectors making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Raleigh.</p> <p>How You'll Make an Impact</p> <p>Dynamic performance studies within tender and project execution of HVDC projectsOptimizing the dynamic behavior of the HVDC converter (e.g., black-start and network restoration, grid forming controls, multi-terminal systems) according to customer and national grid code requirementsAnalyzing sub-synchronous torsional/control interactions and the harmonic converter impedance, as well as potential interactions between the HVDC converter and other controlled devices in the power systemDeveloping and validating simulation models for diverse EMT simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV)Customer training in simulation models and presentation of study results to customerContinuous improvement and standardization of simulation models, study procedures and methods, processes in project execution as well as documentation of resultsSupporting the project management in technical discussions, participating in customer meetings, and coordinating external partners</p> <p>What You Bring</p> <p>5+ years of experience. University degree or equivalent experience in electrical power engineering or control engineering in combination with PhD degree and experience in power engineering industryGood knowledge in high voltage applications, power transmission systems, power electronics and HVDC technologyExpertise in control engineering and modeling of HVDC systems in the time domain and frequency domainProfessional user of typical power system simulation programs (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV)</p> <p>About the Team</p> <p>Grid TechnologiesOur Grid Technology division enables a reliable, sustainable, and digital grid.
