<p>Job Goal:</p> <p>To identify children with speech, language, hearing, or other communication disorders and to plan and implement an effective speech/language therapy program for those children.</p> <p>Qualifications (minimum education, licensure, skills, and/or experience):</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Speech/Language Therapy </li><li>Meet all Louisiana Department of Education certification requirements for school based speech-language pathologists </li><li>Preferred Qualification: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist with the identification of children with speech, language, and/or hearing problems that need rehabilitative speech, language, and or hearing therapy.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide guidance to teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech, language, and hearing impairments</p> </li><li> <p>Interpret diagnostic results. Write appropriate and accurate reports of results.</p> </li><li> <p>Select appropriate form and informal testing instruments and procedures for screening speech and language skills of referred children.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct or participate in the evaluation and placement in programs and dismissal/exit out of programs for speech, language, and/or hearing impaired children in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education and district guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Design and provide a therapeutic individualized education program (IEP) to meet the needs of children in accordance with state and district guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff members to implement therapy procedures that will improve student performance in the classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor ongoing performance of children and access progress at regular intervals and report process at designated times.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other job-related duties as required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Light: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force frequently; involves frequent sitting. </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <p>Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel (Bulletin 130).</p>
