<p>Provides support to the Department by providing services in two or more specialties in MRI, Computerized Tomography, Special Procedures or General Radiology at a senior level.</p> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for their designated area. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of principles of radiological physics and computer science related to radiology procedures. </li><li>Demonstrates complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Calibrates imaging systems periodically as required (i.e., tube warm-up). </li><li>Demonstrates correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills. </li><li>Selects appropriate procedure technique/equipment , sets up procedure trays, and determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions. Procedures are planned and executed considering physiologic and developmental age. Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient age and body part being examined while minimizing radiation. </li><li>Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self-according to prescribed safety standards. </li><li>Confirms patient identification by verifying name and birth date. Reviews doctor's order and requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions, reviews with radiologist and patient if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness. </li><li>Reviews patient questionnaire, doctor's order and requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions, reviews with radiologist and patient if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness. </li><li>Recognizes emergency situations, indicate code and properly administer aid as needed. </li><li>Performs visual inspections, selects appropriate equipment and applies immobilization devices as required. </li><li>Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patient and instruments. </li><li>Records pertinent patient information and completes all paperwork as required and assists in maintaining files. Performs billing functions timely and accurately. </li><li>Prepares examination for interpretation by radiologist. Scans supporting documentation into PACS. </li><li>Keeps procedure rooms/work stations neat, orderly, and prepared and assures exam room is stocked with appropriate supplies. Assists with ordering and stocking of department supplies and equipment. </li><li>Willingly performs other related duties outside immediate work area as assigned or required (i.e., scheduling, Q.C. follow-up, transport, clerical). </li><li>May be required to participate in after hours uncontrolled standby and call back. Position may require the use of a pager while on duty and while on standby. </li><li>Exhibits organizational skills and utilizes time efficiently. </li><li>Accepts change as an opportunity for growth, learning and development; adapts to changing procedures and goals in a cooperative and positive manner. </li><li>Acts as a mentor to and is a source of information for less experienced Radiology Technologist. </li><li>Uses the chain of command appropriately to communicate any concerns with the department, co-workers or medical staff. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Req High school or equivalent </li><li>Req Specialized/technical training Graduate of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology. </li><li>Req 5 years Experience in two or more the following specialties: MRI, Computerized Tomography, Special Procedures or General Radiology. </li><li>Req Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently. </li><li>Req Must be comfortable computers and medical terminology. </li><li>Req Must have technical skills to operate radiography equipment and computers. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Required Licenses/Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Req Registered Technologist - R.T. (ARRT) </li><li>Req Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH) </li><li>Req Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit (CA DPH) </li><li>Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association </li><li>Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) </li><li>Pref Advanced CT </li></ul> <p>The hourly rate range for this position is $46.99 - $79.88.
