<p>Job Summary</p> <p>General Pharmacy Technician duties may include:</p> <p>Pharmacy Technician, Community Pharmacy Services:</p> <ul> <li>Gather prescription insurance coverage information </li><li>Perform prescription order entry and fulfillment </li><li>Perform basic metric conversions and calculations </li><li>Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds </li><li>Greet patients and answer phones </li><li>Assist with the resolution of medication access barriers </li><li>Collaborate with nursing, social work, providers, pharmacists, and others to optimize patient care </li><li>Assist with problem solving and process improvements within the pharmacy </li><li>Assist with the training and oversight of other staff and learners (pharmacy students, residents and interns) </li><li>Must exhibit good communication skills in dealing with patients and/or families, who may have compromised health or language barriers and with other members of the health care team. Be adaptable to diverse patient care environments </li><li>Exhibit strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work independently </li><li>Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to facilitate safe and efficient patient care </li></ul> <p>Pharmacy Technician, Transitions of Care Meds to Beds Program:</p> <ul> <li>Gather information for prescription insurance coverage, home pharmacy, and preferred pharmacy for prescription filling </li><li>Identify and resolve medication access barriers, such as prior authorizations and other insurance barriers, in collaboration with the health care team </li><li>Assist with filling of discharge prescriptions </li><li>Provide bedside delivery of discharge prescriptions </li><li>Provide follow-up and coordination to ensure patient access to discharge medications </li><li>Collect data to determine process and outcomes measures of program </li><li>Assist with problem solving and process improvements relevant to the program </li><li>Assist with the training and oversight of other staff and learners (pharmacy students, residents and interns) </li><li>Must exhibit good communication skills in dealing with patients and/or families, who may have compromised health or language barriers and with other members of the health care team. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize with accuracy and dependability: Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.</p> <p>Pharmacy Technician Associate:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience </li><li>Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs </li><li>Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills are necessary. </li><li>Must be able to prioritize with accuracy and dependability. </li></ul> <p>Pharmacy Technician Intermediate/Senior:</p> <ul> <li>Associate level requirements, plus additional relevant experience required to be eligible. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <p>At least one year of technician experience or completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program is highly desirable. Basic algebra including performing pharmacy calculations is also highly desired.</p> <p>Licensure & Certification</p> <p>The State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires all Pharmacy Technicians to be licensed. The new regulations allow for a one-time temporary license for up to 1 year, during which time a Technician must successfully complete requirements to become certified and meet all other State of Michigan requirements for a Full Pharmacy Technician License.
