<p>Job Title Library Circulation Assistant (Fall 2025) Student Department The Help Center Job Description/Duties</p> <p>Provide face-to-face customer service to library patrons. Daily tasks may include:</p> <ul> <li>loaning/returning books and equipment </li><li>opening and/or closing the library </li><li>navigating the SUNY Cortland website and myRedDragon to find information </li><li>configuring mobile devices to the SUNY Cortland Wi-Fi network </li><li>answering telephones </li><li>assisting customers with Microsoft Office and other supported software applications </li><li>answering directional questions </li><li>shelving books </li><li>troubleshoot WEPA print stations </li><li>instructing customers in use of library equipment </li></ul> <p>Days/Hours Needed</p> <p>Hours of coverage coincide with Memorial Library's hours of operation, which are subject to change. Based on the current hours of operation, coverage is required for the following:</p> <ul> <li>Monday through Thursday 7:45 a.m. to midnight </li><li>Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. </li><li>Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. </li><li>Sunday from 10:45 a.m. to midnight </li></ul> <p>Study Days and Finals week require extended hours.</p> <p>Campus Location/Bldg.</p> <p>The Help Center/Memorial Library</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Reliability and punctuality </li><li>Approachability, patience, eagerness to provide excellent customer service Willingness to learn and assist customers with new technologies </li><li>Good written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Must be a currently matriculated SUNY Cortland student </li><li>Must be willing to work weekends, early morning and late night shifts </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience using myRedDragon </li><li>Experience working in a library or similar setting </li><li>Experience providing customer service </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Ability to push and pull loaded book trucks and to lift 20 pounds </li><li>Must be willing to work weekends, early morning and late night shifts </li></ul> <p>Special Conditions for Eligibility Contact Name(s) & Email(s)</p> <p>Library@cortland.edu</p> <p>Salary Grade A-$15.50/hr.
