<p>Job Description:</p> <p>CAFETERIA MANAGER AT SOUTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL</p> <p>NEW CANAAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>The Cafeteria Manager performs tasks as directed by the FS DIRECTOR or the Assistant FS Director.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that weekly orders are placed in a timely manner. </li><li>Prepares meals for the daily menu. (Elementary School) </li><li>Maintains accurate service records. </li><li>Checks and verifies, upon acceptance, all kitchen deliveries. </li><li>Trains staff to perform assigned tasks. </li><li>Assigns tasks to cafeteria staff. </li><li>Ensures that proper sanitary standards are maintained in kitchen. </li><li>Performs first tier cash audit of daily sales. </li><li>Communicates on a daily basis with the FSD or AFSD. </li><li>Maintains contact with building administration. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Ability to complete needs list accurately. </li><li>Must be able to accurately check in food and paper orders. </li><li>Knowledge of standard food storage requirements. </li><li>Ability to estimate inventory need in advance. </li><li>Knowledge of Health Department standards and the ability to maintain them. </li><li>Knowledge of high volume batch cooking. </li><li>Ability to maintain kitchen morale. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>The ability to stand for extended periods of time. </li><li>Carry, move and stock supplies and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. </li><li>Must practice and maintain proper personal hygiene. </li></ul> <p>Each staff member is expected to be at his or her station, ready to begin work at his or her assigned start time.</p> <p>A professional kitchen must function as a team.
