<p>Position Purpose</p> <p>Leads and oversees the Energy Operations project portfolio to ensure successful delivery of construction and infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives, safety requirements, and customer expectations. Establishes project management standards, drives consistency in execution, and leads the development of high-performing project management teams to support operational and strategic priorities.</p> <p>Core Responsibilities</p> <p>Note: This is not an all-inclusive listing.</p> <ul> <li>Define, implement, and maintain project management methodologies, standards, and governance across Energy Operations. </li><li>Oversee a portfolio of construction and capital projects, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations. </li><li>Lead and manage project management staff, including assigning work, balancing capacity, and setting clear performance expectations. </li><li>Establish and lead project teams; ensure appropriate resourcing and coordination across internal and external partners. </li><li>Serve as a primary liaison between project teams, operational leaders, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders. </li><li>Set, communicate, and manage project expectations; ensure transparency through regular status reporting. </li><li>Monitor project performance, risks, and issues; implement corrective actions to maintain scope, schedule, and budget control. </li><li>Develop and maintain portfolio-level reporting and dashboards for project sponsors and senior leadership. </li><li>Lead, coach, and develop project management staff and subordinate leaders, fostering capability, engagement, and accountability. </li><li>Contribute to departmental strategy, planning, and goal setting in partnership with senior leadership. </li><li>Establish and maintain policies, practices, and procedures that drive consistency, compliance, and organizational performance. </li></ul> <p>Behavioral Competencies</p> <p>Note: These are in addition to MGE's Core Competencies.</p> <ul> <li>Drives Results - Consistently achieves results, even under challenging conditions. </li><li>Strategic Mindset - Anticipates future needs and translates them into effective project and portfolio strategies. </li><li>Develops Talent - Builds capability and engagement through coaching, feedback, and development. </li><li>Decision Quality - Makes timely, well-reasoned decisions that keep work moving forward. </li><li>Collaborates - Builds strong partnerships and works effectively across functions to achieve shared goals. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Project & Portfolio Management - Leads planning, execution, and oversight of complex construction and capital project portfolios aligned to strategy - Advanced </li><li>People Leadership & Team Development - Leads, coaches, and develops project management staff and subordinate leaders - Advanced </li><li>Project Governance & Methodologies - Establishes and enforces standards and methodologies to drive consistent outcomes - Advanced </li><li>Resource Planning & Workload Management - Allocates resources and balances competing demands to optimize delivery - Advanced </li><li>Stakeholder & Client Management - Builds strong partnerships and manages expectations across diverse stakeholder groups - Advanced </li><li>Project Controls & Performance Reporting - Uses schedules, budgets, metrics, and risk tracking to drive corrective action - Proficient </li><li>Communication & Influence - Communicates complex project information clearly and credibly to varied audiences - Advanced </li><li>Analytical & Problem Solving - Analyzes complex problems and implements practical solutions - Proficient </li><li>Project Management Tools & Technology - Utilizes scheduling, cost, and resource planning tools to support execution - Proficient </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or a related field required. </li><li>Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) preferred. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project management, construction management, or related disciplines. </li><li>Prior people leadership experience, including direct management of employees and/or subordinate leaders. </li><li>Experience overseeing complex project portfolios and leading large-scale operational initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Work Location</p> <ul> <li>This hybrid role is based at our Madison, WI headquarters.
