<p>Director of College and Career Readiness, Grades 9-12</p> <p>Description: As the instructional leader for the department, the Director of College and Career Readiness, Grades 9-12, shall lead the design, innovation, strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation of guidance department at the high school. The Director of College and Career Readiness, Grades 9-12, should have the knowledge and experience to provide high-quality guidance services for students that support college and career readiness for all students and provide additional support services for students to access the high school program. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and licensed guidance counselor and administrator in the respective discipline area who has demonstrated exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills.</p> <p>Working Time:</p> <p>The Director of College and Career Readiness, Grades 9-12, will be required to work 226 days, exclusive of holidays. The length of the work day will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>The base salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Everett Teachers Association Unit B.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>A Master's degree from an accredited institution. </li><li>A graduate or an undergraduate major in Guidance, Counseling, or another related field </li><li>Five years or more of teaching experience. </li><li>Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification for Supervisor/Director and School Counselor (9-12/All Levels) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>EPS respects linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring value to the district's culture and diversity. </li><li>Familiarity with an urban school district. </li><li>Previous leadership experience in leading a world language department. </li><li>Experience working with students with disabilities and multilingual learners. </li><li>Strong knowledge of ASPEN. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>In collaboration with building leaders, supervise and evaluate department staff, including guidance counselors in Grades 9-12. </li><li>Support students' transition from grade 8 to high school, including collaboration with K-8 school leaders and other district curriculum leaders. </li><li>Create and implement comprehensive college and career readiness and guidance programs at the high school aligned with national standards and district goals. </li><li>Establish and maintain relationships with local colleges, universities, and businesses to create opportunities for students. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and administration to address concerns and facilitate communication. </li><li>Provide guidance and support to students and families navigating the college and career planning process, and support additional counseling services for students. </li><li>Analyze data to track student outcomes and adjust programs to improve effectiveness, not only college and career counseling, but also needed school counseling and advising of the course of studies. </li><li>Organize and coordinate school events such as assemblies, college fairs, and field tripsto local institutions. </li><li>Supervise the implementation of the school's 504 Plans and ensure the students receive appropriate supports. </li><li>Plan and coordinate the scheduling and administration of all Advanced Placement exams, MCAS, and ACCESS with all school leaders. </li><li>Assist with the scheduling of classes, exams, and other academic activities. </li><li>Collaborate with the principal and vice principals to create a schedule in Aspen for all students. </li><li>Plan and coordinate all activities in coordination with other staff advisory activities, including MyCAP. </li><li>Collaborate with school leaders regarding student attendance and behavior, implementing interventions as needed. </li><li>Arrange for staff development, workshops, and meetings designed to support the department's needs. </li><li>Direct, organize, and coordinate the development of new and/or innovative district programs, including programs supporting multilingual learners and students with disabilities. </li><li>Collaborate with special education and ELL leaders to ensure appropriate instructional programming, college and career planning, and counseling support. </li><li>Confer with department members, the principal, and teachers to develop programming to improve students' college and career readiness opportunities. </li><li>Coordinate all school and district scholarship program elements in consultation with school leaders. </li><li>Coordinate Substance Abuse Intervention Treatment (SBIRT) screenings for all 9th </li></ul> <p>graders.</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate the Pathway selection process and coordinate vocational technical program selection and scheduling with other school leaders. </li><li>Support school leaders in end-of-year activities for the senior class, including awards night and graduation. </li><li>Hold department meetings and communicate regularly with staff about the programs, events, and other staff and student opportunities. </li><li>Arrange for substitutes as needed for department staff. </li><li>Support the recruitment, hiring, and retention of staff in the department in collaboration with the building principal. </li><li>Represent the district in committees at the regional and state levels. </li><li>Prepare the budget for the department and oversee the department's expenditures. </li><li>Apply for grants and other funding sources supporting increasing opportunities for students, families, and staff. </li><li>Coordinate and assist in the development of the district-wide events calendar. </li><li>Assist in assigning department teachers to take advantage of their skills and training. </li><li>Attend district and school programs, productions, and events as a program representative. </li><li>Support counselors in using culturally responsive and collaborative practices to ensure that all families are welcome and can contribute to the effectiveness of the district, classroom, school, and community. </li><li>Establish strategic relationships with community organizations, community members, and businesses. </li><li>Engage with the community to build awareness of college and career readiness opportunities and resources. </li><li>Support and lead the implementation of school-wide efforts such as MyCAP and the Vision of a Graduate. </li><li>Provide training and development opportunities for teachers, counselors, and administrators to enhance their college and career readiness skills and school supports. </li><li>Collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators regarding 504 accommodations and services. </li><li>Oversee the evaluation process to determine if students qualify for 504 accommodations, maintaining accurate records of 504 plans, evaluations, and accommodations provided to students. </li><li>Oversee the dual enrollment/Early College and Gateway to College programs including advising students on the selection of courses, coordinate the application and registration, provide orientation sessions for students and parents to familiarize them with the dual enrollment program requirements, and monitor student progress. </li><li>Collaborate with high school counselors and administrators to ensure alignment </li></ul> <p>between dual enrollment courses and high school graduation requirement.</p> <ul> <li>Monitor student attendance, behavior, and academic progress, implementing interventions as needed to support student success as part of Day 6 program. </li><li>Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to alternative education programs, including reporting and documentation requirements. </li><li>Perform such other duties and assume all other responsibilities that the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and Principal may assign. </li></ul> <p>The Everett Public
