<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Number 003653 Position Title HVAC Mechanic II - 003653 Division Finance and Administration Department 173740 - Central Utilities Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, possession of Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification, and possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama. Completion of an HVAC training program may substitute for two years of the required experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary</p> <p>The University of South Alabama's department of Central Utilities is seeking to hire an HVAC Mechanic II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>These are the job duties required of the position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Maintains and operates heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigerant systems. </li><li>Troubleshoots and repairs electronic and pneumatic control systems. </li><li>Repairs hot water, chill water, and steam systems to include boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, valves and other auxiliary equipment. </li><li>Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment. </li><li>Utilizes test equipment to include volt/amp/ohms meter and temperature pressure gauges. </li><li>Utilizes appropriate hand and power tools for repair and installation of equipment. </li><li>Uses University vehicle to travel between work sites. </li><li>Moves items weighing up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Climbs ladders to access work areas. </li><li>Works in closed areas of extreme hot or cold temperatures. </li><li>Distinguishes color coded wiring. </li><li>Reads blueprints and schematics to determine location, size, capacity and types of components needed to repair equipment and/or systems. </li><li>Regular and prompt attendance. </li><li>Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. </li><li>Related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Posting Information</p> <p>Number of Vacancies 1 Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 04/29/2025 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Working Days Monday - Friday Working Hours 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Job Location Main Campus Full-time or Part-Time Full Time Regular or Temporary Regular</p>
