<p>What You'll Do</p> <p>Staffing</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that the program is adequately and appropriately staffed and monitored </li><li>Ensures the appropriate training of staff who are assigned to the Residence </li><li>Provides weekly supervision meeting for residential staff </li><li>Observes, monitors, and regularly provides feedback to staff regarding the implementation of the individuals' plans through the use of meal observations, community meetings, and daily performance of goals. </li><li>Demonstrates and models effective methods to teach existing positive and replacement behaviors to individuals. </li><li>Supports staff in developing their technical skills through electronic documentation and communications </li></ul> <p>Program</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that the program meets the guidelines and regulations which govern residential operations </li><li>Tracks program and individual progress to ensure further program development. </li><li>Works closely with families and individuals to ensure the program meets their needs and expectations </li></ul> <p>Medical Care Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Maintain and update medication records of individuals residing in the IRA </li><li>Monitor to ensure all medical appointments and follow-up visits are done as needed </li><li>Work closely with the Nurse/Medical Director on all medical care for residents </li><li>Work closely with Psychologist on all behavioral plans and data for residents </li><li>Establish professional relationships with local pharmacies, urgent care centers, etc. </li><li>Ensure that all reports of injuries and accidents are reported as required by agency policy and OPWDD regulations </li><li>Review Medical Administration Records a minimum of three times per week. </li></ul> <p>Reporting / Documentation</p> <ul> <li>Monitor staff required charting and documentation records and completes reports on person supported progress towards meeting goals and outcome as needed. </li><li>Responds to all correspondence promptly and professionally, meeting required timeframes. </li><li>Conducts one unannounced visit per month to DD IRAs or Day Programs; completing the unannounced visit checklist during each visit and reporting results to Director DD and Director QI within one week of visit; and following up on action items at next unannounced visit. </li><li>Ensure the proper documentation and reporting of all incidents and events to all the proper Agency and Monitoring authorities </li><li>Ensures the review of all incidents and events on a monthly and quarterly basis </li><li>Compiles other reports and data for management review </li><li>Ensure that all reports of injuries and untoward incidents for staff and individuals are reported appropriately </li><li>Ensures that appropriate training and documentation of training for individuals and staff is up to date and meets standard for reimbursement as well as program guidelines. </li><li>Ensures that all billing information for the program is completed and submitted to accounting in a timely manner </li><li>View Foothold records daily to ensure that individuals' goals are recorded </li></ul> <p>Communication</p> <ul> <li>Communicate effectively with individuals, using their primary method of communication (gestures, verbal, sign-language, communication board) </li><li>Establish positive relations with parents, guardians, and advocates of the individuals in the residence </li><li>Assists staff and individuals in developing daily activities which are of interest to the person. </li><li>Provides counseling and support to staff when conflicts arise; facilitates teamwork and positive interactions. </li><li>Gathers staff opinions and input regarding work issues and empowers staff to make decisions through monthly mission effectiveness meetings. </li><li>Provides ongoing feedback for the director and other executive staff. </li></ul> <p>Other</p> <ul> <li>On call for emergencies and reports as indicated by program guidelines. </li><li>Provides a safe work environment for staff and individuals. </li><li>Other related duties as assigned by supervisor </li><li>Attends in-service training and participates in continuing education to develop management skills; implements and demonstrates skills learned to build staff skillsets. </li></ul> <p>Your Qualifications</p> <p>Education and/or Experience</p> <p>B.A. Degree in Human Services or related field</p> <p>2+ years' experience working in a similar environment, with 1 year in a supervisory role</p> <p>Knowledge of Developmental Disabilities</p> <p>Must have a clean NYS Driver's License</p> <p>Language Skills</p> <p>Exceptional observatory and analytical skills to assist in future development of the program</p> <p>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</p> <p>Bi-lingual a plus</p> <p>Ability to learn basic sign language a must</p> <p>Computer Skills</p> <p>Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Word and MS Outlook</p> <p>Certificates, Licenses & Registrations</p> <p>AMAP and First Aid/CPR/AED certification a plus</p> <p>Must have a clean NYS Driver's License</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
