This position will be supervised by the History department chair. The History Department, located in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has 15 rostered faculty, including 11 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. We are committed to inclusive excellence in our teaching, mentoring, and programming. The department is dedicated to increasing the diversity of our community and our curriculum.</p> <p>Lecturer</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li>Teach at least one course per semester in US or Public History. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)</p> <p>Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.</p> <ul> <li>M.A. in History from an accredited university. </li><li>Experience teaching in-person and/or online courses in US history at the college level as the instructor of record, and/or experience in the public history sector, especially in museums. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)</p> <ul> <li>Ph.D. in History from an accredited university </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate knowledge of US or Public History is required, and in addition, and for lecturers teaching Public History, direct experience in the field is preferred. </li><li>Demonstrate pedagogical innovation. </li><li>Excellence in teaching and mentoring. </li><li>Dedication to student success. </li></ul> <p>Conditions of Employment</p> <ul> <li>This position requires an onsite presence, and you must be able to teach in-person, at the course's assigned times. </li></ul> <p>Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements</p> <ul> <li>This position may be performed on site, and will require the ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work;?often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers. </li><li>This position may be performed in a hybrid or remote environment, requiring the ability to work effectively in a remote setting. This includes maintaining a dedicated workspace free of excessive noise or distractions, reliable internet connectivity, and the ability to participate in virtual meetings for extended periods. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
