<p>The Lead Medical Assistant works under the Practice Manager or Practice Supervisor to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care. Assists with training, onboarding, and professional development efforts of new and/or existing clinical team members including Medical Assistants. The Lead Medical Assistant works as part of a health care team to provide comprehensive care in a non-judgmental manner.</p> <p>Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Three to Five years previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office </li><li>Command of verbal and written English </li><li>Positive interpersonal communication skills </li><li>Strong organizational, problem solving and leadership skills </li><li>Knowledge of appropriate workflow processes and ability to identify areas of opportunity </li><li>Experience in reviewing processing and routing of clinical documentation </li><li>Knowledge and appropriate use of medical terminology </li><li>Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record and advanced computer skills </li><li>Knowledge of physician templates and ability to manage provider schedules </li><li>Ability to work independently, as well as a group setting </li><li>Ability to multitask and perform accurate work in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Medical billing and coding knowledge </li></ul> <p>Education/Training</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of a two-year accredited Medical Assistant program preferred </li><li>Departmental specialized training to provide care to patients within role and successful completion of SHMG orientation program </li></ul> <p>Licenses/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Medical Assistant Certificate </li></ul> <p>Other Duties:</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer. Required specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, procedures, prescription renewals, triage of patient phone calls, review charts, lab test results, scheduling patients, responding to provider messages </li><li>Commitment to a safe patient experience and quality improvement </li><li>Act as the medical assistant mentor and leader for any clinical/administrative questions </li><li>Provide back up support for the medical assistant team, which includes all functions of a medical assistant </li><li>Assist in the supervision of work and performance of medical assistants, including input for performance reviews </li><li>Oversee and train new and existing staff along with Practice Manager and Office Coordinator </li><li>Support staff with Prior authorizations and referrals </li><li>Review, interpret, and manage clinical documentation </li><li>Perform other administrative tasks and clinical care as assigned </li><li>Coordinate the inventory, ordering and supply stock maintenance of medical supplies </li><li>Work collaboratively with office staff on programs to improve patient outcomes </li></ul> <p>Sturdy Memorial Hospital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
