<p>SALARY</p> <p>The minimum salary is $25.730 per hour</p> <p>This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.</p> <p>Pay Grade 519</p> <p>FILING DEADLINE DATE</p> <p>The deadline to apply is Monday, May 4, 2026</p> <p>FILING DEADLINE DATE</p> <p>The purpose of this classification in the division of Enhanced 911 is to initiate a response to incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatch law enforcement, fire-fighting, or rescue units.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED </li><li>Two (2) years of related experience </li><li>Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Receives, interprets, classifies, prioritizes and responds to calls of a routine and emergency nature </li><li>Enters, updates and retrieves relevant information using multiple computerized systems, including government databases and a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system </li><li>Dispatches law enforcement, fire-fighting, or rescue units </li><li>Provides emergency medical and crisis intervention instructions to callers </li><li>Maintains access to and security of highly sensitive materials </li><li>Sends radio dispatch to Police, Fire and personnel in the field </li><li>Performs related work as assigned </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION</p> <p>All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.</p> <ul> <li>Those who are not already certified as a Telecommunicator in Kentucky will be required to attend the state of Kentucky's Public Safety Dispatch Academy in Richmond, KY, obtain certification within the first six (6) months of employment, and maintain certification as a condition of continued employment. The four-week academy is a program of the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT). Attendees of the academy are required to live in the dorms at DOCJT for the duration of training. </li><li>Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification within first six (6) months of employment and maintained as a condition of continued employment. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical </li><li>Responsible for meeting annual in-service training requirements necessary to maintain certification as a Public Safety Telecommunicator. </li><li>Must be able to work a varied schedule </li></ul> <p>In accordance with KRS 15.540:</p> <ul> <li>Must be a US citizen </li><li>Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age </li><li>Must not have been convicted of a felony or other crimes involving moral turpitude </li><li>Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check </li><li>Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test </li><li>Must submit to a pre-employment suitability test </li></ul> <p>EXAMINATION</p> <p>Applicants who meet the minimum education and experience requirements will be invited to schedule their CritiCall Personnel Selection System test. The names of those who pass the CritiCall test will be sent to the hiring official. The hiring official may invite you to schedule an interview and if selected to continue in the process, you will complete the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council's (KLEC) Suitability Screening in Richmond, KY.
