<p>Overview</p> <p>Electric Boat's Software Engineering Group (SEG) is seeking a highly motivated, entry-level software developer to join a team of like-minded people pushing the boundaries of available applications for submarine design, manufacturing and construction. From initial concept design through implementation, you will be working with product stakeholders, designers and engineers from various disciplines to define the best practical application to suit the needs of the customer/end-user as well as be innovative, impactful and cost beneficial to the company and other organizations alike. You will be creating software applications that make our company work effectively and efficiently at what we do - which is designing and constructing the world's finest submarines for the United States Navy.</p> <p>The core responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with end users and the development teams to define, plan and build complex web applications </li><li>Translation of the UI/UX designs and high-fidelity prototypes to produce visual elements of the application and desired behavior </li><li>Writing well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices </li><li>Promoting strict code peer review practices as well as testing and validation to ensure high-quality coding standards </li><li>Maintenance of software applications throughout the lifecycle of the product </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering </li><li>0-5 years of postgraduate engineering experience </li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with the Material User Interface (MUI) framework and Material Design principles </li><li>Experience developing web applications with Oracle/SQL databases </li><li>Experience with mobile application development using React Native </li><li>Experience or knowledge of Agile development methodologies </li><li>Foundational knowledge of the software development process </li><li>A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices </li><li>Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards </li><li>Experience with the following technologies: Java, NodeJS, Object-Oriented Design, RESTful Web Services, API's, JSON, XML/XSL </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Genuine commitment to understanding the needs of the end-user </li><li>Ability to work patiently within established government processes and timelines </li><li>Ability to quickly learn complex logistical concepts and adapt design solutions to fit changing needs </li><li>Team-oriented mindset and willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary team </li><li>Awareness of latest UX/UI trends and technologies </li><li>Self-motivated to learn new skills for solving complex/challenging problems </li><li>Enthusiasm for working in high performing team environment and collaborating with customers and end-users to define scope and design </li></ul> <p>Environmental Attributes</p> <p>Inside</p>
