<p>Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer</p> <p>Location: Onsite in Oak Ridge, TN</p> <p>Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in FMD provides mechanical engineering expertise to support the design and execution of projects involving data center construction, renovation, and other power and cooling-related infrastructure. The engineer assists with developing mechanical design packages, reviewing technical documentation, and ensuring engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, and organizational requirements.</p> <p>The role supports project managers, design leads, and cross-functional engineering teams throughout the project life cycle, from conceptual design through construction and commissioning.</p> <p>U.S. Citizenship is required.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide mechanical engineering support for projects involving data center, power, or cooling-related infrastructure. </li><li>Contribute to the development and review of mechanical design documents, drawings, and specifications. </li><li>Perform mechanical system evaluations, basic calculations, and assist with equipment and material selections. </li><li>Support coordination efforts between engineering disciplines, project managers, construction teams, and stakeholders. </li><li>Assist in ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and organizational requirements. </li><li>Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings as needed. </li><li>Provide engineering input during construction and commissioning activities when requested. </li><li>Help identify and resolve general technical issues related to mechanical systems. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. </li><li>Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting mechanical design for data center construction/renovation or other power and cooling infrastructure projects. </li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance. </li><li>Proficiency in reading and contributing to plans, specifications, and technical documentation. </li><li>Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, design principles, and system requirements. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. </li><li>Experience with DOE or other federal projects. </li><li>Familiarity with design-build project environments. </li><li>Experience supporting engineering deliverables across the project life cycle (concept, planning, design, construction, and commissioning). </li><li>Understanding of construction safety considerations related to mechanical systems. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. </li></ul>
