<p>Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Radio Dispatcher in the University Police department. The successful candidate would receive incoming telephone or alarm system calls regarding emergency and non-emergency police and fire service, emergency ambulance service, information and after hours calls; determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations, and dispatch units in accordance with established procedures; enter necessary information in the CAD system; relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring notification.</p> <p>This is an in-person; on-campus; non-remote position.</p> <p>For more information about the department, please visit the Monmouth University Police Department webpage.</p> <p>Application Material Required:</p> <p>Monmouth University requires all applications and supporting documents to be submitted via the university's career portal. Applications will not be considered complete for review until all required documents are uploaded.</p> <ul> <li>Resume or Curriculum Vitae </li></ul> <p>Optional Documents:</p> <ul> <li>Cover Letter </li><li>Professional References </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist callers in determining their locations and the nature of their problem in order to determine the type of response needed. </li><li>Determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations, and dispatch units in accordance with established procedures. </li><li>Receive incoming telephone or alarm system calls regarding emergency and non-emergency police and fire service, emergency ambulance service, information and after hours calls. Monitor the computerized 911, fire and security alarm systems. </li><li>Monitor numerous security cameras. </li><li>Monitor transmissions from Monmouth County Radio and scanners from adjacent Police Departments. </li><li>Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites to law enforcement agencies, and all other individuals or groups requiring notification. </li><li>Operate base radio for 2-way communications with Police and Facilities Management personnel. </li><li>Use multiple pieces of technology and software applications to make critical decisions that affect campus-wide response and reaction. </li><li>Test emergency notification system daily. </li><li>Assist with checking the function and maintenance of the emergency phones located throughout campus. </li><li>Issue parking permits. </li><li>Verify and issue keys to contractors. </li><li>Look up employees and students in Ultipro and Ellucian Colleague. </li><li>Record details of calls, dispatches, and messages. </li><li>Complete Dispatch Reports and other reports, as needed. </li><li>Enter, update, and retrieve information from computerized data systems regarding such things as wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, and stolen vehicles. </li><li>Obtain "look ups" from county and state computer systems. </li><li>Look up and print out card access photos in Pro Watch. </li><li>Maintain files of information relating to emergency calls such as personnel rosters, and emergency call-out and pager files. </li><li>Maintain access to and security of highly sensitive materials. </li><li>Document and obtain coverage for members of the department who call out for their shift. </li><li>Complete daily activities log for open doors and activities on campus. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Excellent customer service skills and the ability to provide professional and composed verbal and written communication with internal offices, external police departments and the public. </li><li>The ability to work with a high level of efficiency under pressure and extreme stress at times to make urgent and critically important decisions regarding emergency situations based on knowledge, skills and policy and procedures. </li><li>The ability to actively listen, understand and communicate effectively. </li><li>The ability to use multiple emergency-related technology and equipment and software applications. </li><li>Ability to remain seated for long periods. </li><li>Ability to work on a standard shift (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week) including all shifts during various hours, including weekends and holidays. </li><li>May be required to work overtime as needed. </li><li>Ability and willingness to keep oneself up-to-date on current practices and department-sponsored trainings; and at times, with limited supervision. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with public contact, customer service, or clerical responsibilities which demonstrate the ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time. </li><li>Associate's degree, two years of college, trade school, or equivalent education. </li><li>Bachelor's degree preferred. </li><li>Higher Education public safety experience is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Questions regarding this search should be directed to: Barbara Santos or bsantos@monmouth.edu or 732-263-5629</p> <p>Note to Applicants:</p> <ul> <li>Finalists will be required to complete a comprehensive background check. </li><li>Schedule is: Saturday - Wednesday, 12:00 Midnight - 8:00 am.
