<p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Original and Complex Copy Cataloging: Performing original and complex copy cataloging across all material formats, including monographs, serials, media, and essential electronic resources. </li><li>Electronic Resource Maintenance: Verifying, correcting, and maintaining persistent links (URLs) for electronic resources within the bibliographic records to ensure reliable user access. </li><li>Record Maintenance: Creating, editing, and maintaining bibliographic and holding records in accordance with RDA, MARC 21, Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) and Library of Congress Classification (LCC) numbers. </li><li>Quality Control: Conducting routine database maintenance and quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency in the library catalog. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Education: Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited institution. </li><li>Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of professional cataloging experience in an academic or research library setting. </li><li>System Experience: Knowledge of library operating systems, preferable OCLC WorldShare Management Services (WMS). </li><li>Standards Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of current cataloging standards, including MARC 21, RDA, LCSH, and LC call numbers (LCC). </li><li>Attributes: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong commitment to accuracy and detail. </li></ul> <p>SALARY AND BENEFITS</p> <ul> <li>Hourly Rate: $28.25 </li><li>Pension Eligible </li><li>403B Eligible </li><li>Employee Assistance Program </li></ul> <p>Bergen Community College provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.</p>
