Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The Lab Technician II supports the outreach and education of the community in regard to clinical laboratory services.</p> <ul> <li>Perform quality control and proficiency testing as required to maintain the activities of the laboratory. </li><li>Perform internal/external customer service by receiving samples, creating reports and disseminating information to clients. </li><li>Maintain laboratory equipment and accessories by performing routine/proper maintenance tasks as described by the manufacturer or more often as needed. </li><li>Complete regulatory testing in order to validate new testing and lab proficiencies. </li><li>Maintain compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards for bacteriological testing of marine water around shellfish harvest areas with the Department of State Health Services (HSGS) in the Seafood Safety program and communicate results with DSHS. </li><li>Maintain compliance with the EPA and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) in the Beach Watch program for collecting and bacteriological testing of recreational marine water samples and post results on the GLO website. </li><li>Train and maintain personal training as ICS Command and other first responder training. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires an Associates degree in Chemical, Physical, Microbiology, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Microbiology, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology highly preferred </li><li>Minimum of one (1) year of related experience </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees.
