<p>POSITION: Pupil Personnel Worker (Pocomoke Area Schools)</p> <p>Under the direction of the Coordinator of Family, Student, and Community Connections, the Pupil Personnel Worker brings together the resources of the home, school, and community to enhance the opportunity for all students to be successful.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:</p> <ul> <li>Counsels with students, their parents, and other groups regarding pupil services. </li><li>Serves as an advocate of the student to ensure that each student has an equitable opportunity for education. </li><li>Consults with community agencies and school personnel. </li><li>Works closely with teachers, school nurses, school counselors, and school-based administrators to identify and resolve problems affecting student achievement. </li><li>Conducts home visits and conferences with parents to promote a positive and collaborative relationship between the home and school. </li><li>Collaborates with teachers, school-based administrators, and other school personnel and facilitates the development of positive intervention plans to address individual student needs. </li><li>Explains school and pupil services programs and interprets school policies to pupils, parents, and community members. </li><li>Establishes effective working relationships with the various agencies within the community that may provide specialized or professional help to students and their parents. </li><li>Implements student accounting policies and procedures, including statistical reports on enrollment and attendance. </li><li>Coordinates referrals to school and community resources. </li><li>Serves on the Pupil Services Team of assigned schools. </li><li>Investigates non-resident and school boundary cases. </li><li>Files and represents WCPS in matters of Truancy Court. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Ability to manage state programs and meet deadlines efficiently in a timely manner. </li><li>Ability to provide Professional Development to Staff. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Has obtained, is eligible for, or can demonstrate through completion of appropriate course work as working toward an endorsement as Pupil Personnel Worker as prescribed in the bylaws of the Maryland State Department of Education. </li><li>Has completed a minimum of three years of successful experience on a teaching certificate. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of child development, learning theories, and effective teaching techniques. </li><li>Has demonstrated leadership ability. </li><li>Has good interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Has excellent writing skills. </li><li>Has a willingness and capability to work beyond the normal workday. </li><li>Possess a valid driver's license. </li></ul> <p>DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:</p> <p>This is an exempt 12-month benefitted position based on the appropriate teachers' salary scale.</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE:</p> <ul> <li>Each candidate meeting the employment qualifications for the Pupil Personnel Worker position must submit an internal application available on our website at www.worcesterk12.org. </li><li>Please upload a letter of interest that addresses the essential functions of the position along with a résumé. </li><li>Applications received by the vacancy announcement deadline will be prescreened. </li><li>The selected applicants will be invited for an interview. </li></ul> <p>If you have any questions or require assistance in completing the online application, please contact Debbie Powell at 410-632-5120 or email us at wcpshr@worcesterk12.org</p> <p>If accommodations are needed for the interview, they will be provided with an advance request.</p> <p>Position will be open until filled.</p> <p>The Worcester County Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
