<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. </li><li>This position reports to the Operations Manager, works a rotating shift schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays; and is subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime and after hours call outs as required. </li><li>Strict adherence to all safety, environmental, NERC compliance, and Facility rules and regulations to protect employees, the public, and the Facility equipment. </li><li>Performs Inspection of Watch (IOW), surveillance rounds, on each system within the plant. </li><li>Competently operates and maintains the Combined Cycle electric power generating Facility equipment with minimal guidance or assistance, as directed by, and in coordination with the Lead Operations and Maintenance Technician (LOMT). Continually checks all phases of the operation for difficulties or irregularities, troubleshooting as necessary. </li><li>Inspects, adjusts, and controls all power production, auxiliary and Facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Reads meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels, water chemistry to verify operating conditions. </li><li>Performs water chemistry analysis on HRSG, Auxiliary Boiler and Water Treatment. </li><li>Ensures water chemistry is within proper control ranges. Makes adjustments to water chemistry as needed by controlling chemical feed and/or blowdown rates. Works with OMTs and water treatment vendor to properly monitor overall chemistry program. </li><li>Operates demineralized water system in accordance with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) specifications and plant procedures, and monitors demineralized water to ensure quality is within acceptable limits. </li><li>Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, filters, valves, and gauges. Cleaning, replacing, oiling and lubricating other component parts and equipment as required. Actively participates in the Facility's preventive and corrective maintenance programs. Utilizes the Facility's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). </li><li>Identifies and resolves Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) problems. Assists in calibrations and gas cylinder replacements. Takes actions necessary to prevent environmental excursions. </li><li>Performs general housekeeping and cleaning responsibilities, including the continuous improvement of the appearance of the Facility. Maintains the cleanliness of all areas of the Facility and Control Room. Keeps the Facility neat, clean, and organized. </li><li>Performs capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by Plant Management. Coordinates purchasing with appropriate personnel and vendors in an effort to achieve timely repair of plant equipment. </li><li>Communicates effectively and accurately, using both oral and written methods of communication. Keeps the Operations Manager and LOMTs fully informed of unusual plant conditions and current job progress as the job relates to Facility operations when assigned on-shift. </li><li>Responsible for ordering chemicals through established vendors. </li><li>Assists in managing the plant's inventory and performing audits as needed. </li><li>Performs Lock Out-Tag Out of Plant Systems. </li><li>Responsible for opening and closing circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation. </li><li>Outage planning and scheduling involvement. </li><li>Assists with development of Operations and Maintenance procedures, and the training of Facility personnel. </li><li>Assists with performing Root Cause Analysis of failures. </li><li>Operates heavy equipment such forklifts. </li><li>Reads, understands, and complies with all regulatory procedures and Facility safety programs. Follows all plant environmental permits. </li><li>Maintains journals, logbooks, shift turnovers, and various other reports. </li><li>Works within the Team to develop a culture where everyone embraces, upholds, and accepts responsibility for a safe workplace, a healthy working life, a sustainable environment, and the right and duty to intervene. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned or required by the LOMTs and Plant Management. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills / Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations. </li><li>Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, written records. </li><li>Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's. </li><li>Will write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs, and training of other personnel. </li><li>Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required. </li><li>Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical equipment with the ability to apply a resolution in a timely fashion. </li><li>Proficient at repairing, replacing, dismantling and inspecting defective plant equipment and parts such as pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, demineralizers, compressors, and turbine components. </li><li>Capable of operating welding and cutting equipment and completes metal fabrication projects. </li><li>Proficient at Water Chemistry. </li><li>Capable of setting up and operating a drill press, pipe threading machine, grinder and other various tools to make and repair parts and equipment. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Two (02) to Four (04) years related power plant or industry experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of advanced technology combustion turbines and steam turbines is preferred but not required. </li><li>Power Plant Control Room Operator experience is a plus. </li><li>Experience with General Electric (GE) MARK VIe DCS (Control System) is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Education Requirements</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college to technical school preferred. </li><li>Education in power generation, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, or instrument and controls is a plus. (Usually associated with Associates Degree, Trade School, or Military Training). </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to do walking, reaching, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 pounds). </li><li>Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces. </li><li>Must be willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift and be available to work for call-ins and overtime as needed.
