<p>Position Overview:</p> <p>As a Plant Operator, your primary responsibility will be to treat wastewater, determine water quality, and release treated water to city publicly owned treatment works. The Wastewater Plant Operator plays a significant role in maintaining the safety and health of the environment.</p> <p>Schedule: 5am to 6pm availability required (8 hour days within that time frame is typical)</p> <p>Compensation: Wages starting at $20/hr (no prior industry experience required!)</p> <p>Location: 1980 Avenue A, Mobile, AL 36615, USA</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for mixing the wastewater chemicals and adding to them as needed. </li><li>Manages the space for incoming wastewater and treatment of the material. </li><li>Performs cleanup of the area as required. </li><li>Checks tank levels for necessary space for material processing. </li><li>Follows all safety and compliance rules and regulations. </li><li>Wears and properly uses safety equipment at all times. </li><li>Always works in a safe and compliant manner. </li><li>Operates and maintains shop equipment. </li><li>May perform preventative maintenance on all equipment. </li><li>Operates heavy equipment, including forklift truck and skid steer. </li><li>May perform minor electrical maintenance functions. </li><li>Cleans and maintains process equipment. </li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge and Skills</p> <ul> <li>The ability to learn procedures related to the safe handling of materials. </li><li>Committed to growth in a company. </li><li>Collaborative with team members. </li><li>Good eye-hand coordination. </li><li>Organizational ability. </li><li>Reliable transportation. </li><li>The ability to be cross-trained to perform other jobs as needed. </li><li>Ability to communicate with others for safety and efficiency requirements </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent (Required). </li><li>One (1) year of experience as a Plant Operator with the maintenance of water pumps and plant machinery (Preferred). </li></ul> <p>Working Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Lifting, climbing, and bending </li><li>Must be able to work on feet most of the workday </li><li>Varied weather working in hot, cold, and wet conditions </li><li>Strong odors and smells </li></ul> <p>This job description in no way states of implies these are the only duties to be performed by the employee incumbent in the position.
