<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Institutional Advancement Department seeks to maximize current operating, capital, and endowment support from alumni, parents, and friends and to develop long-lasting relationships from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Advancement Intern will assist in the planning and execution of a comprehensive development program for MCLA as noted below.</p> <p>The AI will work closely with the Vice President and the Advancement leadership team to help ensure the success of an integrated approach to cultivation and solicitation activities. The AI will have a primary focus on individual giving and grass roots fundraising marketing. In addition, at the appropriate time in the internship help secure gifts at the $1,000+ level. The AI will also work with the Chief Government Relations Officer and grants team to help execute the grant proposal process.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Work with the Advancement Team to learn about and help execute Fund for MCLA programs and solicitations. </li><li>Work with the Advancement Team to learn and help execute donor recognition programs. </li><li>After initial training, work independently and be self-motivated to initiate contacts with potential volunteers and donors. </li><li>Assist in departmental efforts to enhance information in development database. </li><li>Under the tutelage of the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations -- research grant opportunities, help with proposal development and writing in conjunction with faculty, staff and volunteers. Help with accurate and timely production of final proposals. </li><li>Engage volunteers, deans, faculty, and other administrators in the cultivation and solicitation process when appropriate </li><li>Serve as an effective and well-informed representative of MCLA </li><li>Be a supportive, professional colleague of others in the Advancement Division </li><li>Participate in College events and committee work, as appropriate </li><li>Participate in community events/activities, as appropriate </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President </li><li>Note: potential travel may be required, particularly within the New England region </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to develop the skills needed to cultivate, solicit, and steward Leadership Gift Donors. </li><li>Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Problem-solving, research and analytical skills. </li><li>Solid relationship-building skills and ability to interface with faculty, administrators and trustees. </li><li>Demonstrated belief in mission, goals and objectives of public higher education. </li><li>Integrity. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to take initiative. </li><li>Creative. </li><li>Respectful. </li><li>Demonstrated perseverance in challenging circumstances. </li><li>Optimistic approach to work. </li><li>Excellent attention to detail. </li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite. </li><li>Education: Pursuit of a bachelor's degree required- Majors in business, marketing, arts management, nonprofit management, and government relations will make ideal candidates. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>This position is only open to current MCLA students.</p> <p>Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified applicants and employees with disabilities.
