These benefits reflect our commitment to supporting your health and well-being.</p> <p>Visit our benefits page for more detailed information.</p> <p>Position follows school calendar with the option to work in other summer paraprofessional positions if interested.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>This position is responsible for assisting one or more teachers in the teaching-learning process, classroom management, and maintaining a stimulating, healthy and safe classroom or sibling care environment.</p> <p>PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <p>Classroom</p> <ul> <li>Set up classroom for parent/child activities according to a lesson plan prior to arrival of families. </li><li>Greet the families upon arrival and assists in their departure. </li><li>Model activities for and assist families with activities. Replace supplies as needed. </li><li>Assist with the implementation of planned activities and provide supervision and care during child-only time. </li><li>Support licensed teacher in utilizing a variety of behavioral management techniques as needed. </li><li>Interact with the children when the teacher is reporting to parents, when applicable. </li><li>Respond to needs of children (separation, snacks, bathroom assistance, diaper changes, feeding, etc). </li><li>Clean up after activities and at the conclusion of the class. </li><li>Assist teachers with preparation of materials for classes. </li><li>Refer parents' questions to the teacher. </li><li>Notify the classroom teacher about equipment that needs repair or replacement, or supplies that need purchasing. </li><li>Assist with shopping for needed program supplies. </li><li>Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff. </li><li>Participate in staff development activities, and site and staff meetings, as required. </li><li>Maintain a high level of fairness, confidentiality, respect and equity for all students, staff and families. </li><li>May assist in the duties of position within the same classification on an as needed basis. Duties could include, but are not limited to lifting and toileting. </li><li>Perform other tasks deemed necessary by the program coordinator or classroom teacher. </li></ul> <p>Sibling Care</p> <ul> <li>Set up activities appropriate for the age of the children prior to arrival. </li><li>Interact with the children in play and care for each child's needs (separation, diapering, bathroom assistance). </li><li>Feed infants and provide snack to older children. </li><li>Attend to special needs of each child as directed by program coordinator and parent (i.e., food allergies, allergies, feeding schedule, ways to comfort, appropriate interventions). </li><li>Notify the program coordinator about equipment that needs repair or replacement, or supplies that need purchasing. </li><li>Clean up the room at the conclusion of sibling care. </li><li>Prepare materials for sibling care (log book, name tags, snack, attendance). </li><li>Maintain open communication with parents regarding child's needs and experience in sibling care. </li><li>Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff. </li><li>Participate in staff development activities, and site and staff meetings, as required. </li><li>Maintain a high level of fairness, confidentiality, respect and equity for all students, staff and families. </li><li>May assist in the duties of position within the same classification on an as needed basis. Duties could include, but are not limited to lifting and toileting. </li><li>Perform other tasks deemed necessary by the program coordinator or classroom teacher. </li></ul> <p>JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Ability to meet District 833's Highly Qualified requirements. </li><li>Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833. </li><li>Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Internet navigation and Microsoft Word. </li><li>Ability to pass Paraprofessional fitness for duty tests. </li><li>Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Prompt, regular and reliable attendance. </li><li>Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills. </li><li>Models appropriate behavior, neat appearance, and proper grammar usage for all students. Helps provide a positive learning environment. </li><li>Actively participates in district-sponsored training when offered. </li><li>Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships. </li><li>Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions. </li></ul> <p>Desired:</p> <ul> <li>Trained in and experience utilizing behavioral management techniques. </li><li>Certification in first aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of basic academics and behavior. </li><li>Prior experience working with children birth to age 5 </li><li>Coursework or training in child development. </li></ul> <p>EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER</p>
