<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Coordinates and performs the receptionist role and coordinates all non-clinical functions on a clinical unit. Accountable to the Registered Nurse.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Communicates effectively with patient, visitors and health care team.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as gatekeeper for physician and nursing orders into the Patient Computer System (Electronic Medical Record (EMR).</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates scheduling of diagnostic procedures and outpatient appointments.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with patient flow and patient safety</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains patient charts.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates nursing unit equipment: pneumatic tube system, intercom system, fax machine, computer, printer and multi-line telephone.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans and executes a daily routine for performance of non-clinical tasks for the Nursing Unit.</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Qualification:</p> <p>High school diploma or GED preferred; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by The National Association of Health Unit Coordinators preferred.</p> <p>Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and have excellent organizational skills. Health Unit Coordinator (Unit Secretary) experience preferred. Health related experience required.</p>
