<p>This role serves as a technical expert for Aluminum product and process issues including those related to forging, heat treating, quality assurance, product development, and process improvement efforts. From the wheels of NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover to mission critical components for nuclear submarines, to large hydraulic cylinders for the largest mining trucks on the planet, Scot Forge creates the precision forged metal parts used in demanding applications all over the world.</p> <p>Job Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Interpret industry and customer specifications and communicate requirements </li><li>Collaborating with customer and sales team members on difficult technical jobs </li><li>Develop, write, and ensure effective execution of manufacturing procedures including forging and heat treatment procedures. </li><li>Teaching office and shop employees metallurgical concepts and practices </li><li>Develop and maintain raw material specifications </li><li>Troubleshooting and problem solving utilizing a scientific approach </li><li>Disposition of material (NDE) and mechanical test failure rejections </li><li>Research and development projects for process improvement and product development. </li><li>Work closely with cross functional team (Sales, Forge, Heat Treat, Vendors, etc.) to develop new customers, product types and/or market segments </li><li>Support raw material supplier development including auditing and quality issues </li><li>Represent Scot Forge in industry organizations as requested (e.g., ASTM, AMS, AGMA, API, ABS, FIA) </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education/Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science (emphasis on Metallurgy). </li><li>Minimum 1-3 years' experience as a Metallurgical Engineer with a focus in Aluminum for majority of experience or most recent role. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Intermediate understanding of physical metallurgy principles as they relate to metal working and heat treatment applications. </li><li>Experience with or willingness to learn SolidWorks and FORGE FEA software </li><li>Demonstrated ability to quickly learn relevant metallurgy topics. </li><li>Ability to gain clearance for federal contract work </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>We have grown to become a leader in the open die forging industry by rewarding our most valuable resource... On occasion while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to heat and cold weather conditions as well as wet and/or humid conditions. When in the area of production, appropriate PPE is mandatory.
