DPS recruits and commits to educators with passion, who are committed to our vision to aspire to advance ALL learners to their highest potential.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Library/Media Specialist at Danbury High School is a dynamic educator who collaborates with staff and students to promote digital literacy, research skills, and a love of reading across a large and diverse student population. The ideal candidate will foster a flexible, inclusive learning environment that supports academic excellence and innovation through the use of library/media resources and instructional technologies.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide access to and maintain a robust collection of print, digital, and multimedia resources aligned with the high school curriculum </li><li>Instruct students in research, digital citizenship, media literacy, and effective use of information technologies </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to co-design and deliver integrated lessons that enhance student learning through media and technology </li><li>Support curriculum development by providing instructional materials and resource guidance </li><li>Promote a reading culture and support student choice through library programs and events </li><li>Manage daily operations of the DHS library, including circulation, cataloging, inventory, and budgeting </li><li>Curate and manage digital tools and databases, and support their use among staff and students </li><li>Provide training and ongoing support to teachers on integrating instructional technology </li><li>Maintain an engaging, organized, and safe library environment that meets the academic and social-emotional needs of students </li><li>Monitor trends in instructional technology and educational resources to enhance library services </li><li>Encourage ethical and responsible use of information and technology </li><li>Participate in school-wide initiatives and professional development aligned with district goals </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of library/media center management and digital resource curation </li><li>Proficiency with educational technology tools, platforms, and databases </li><li>Understanding of adolescent literacy development and secondary research skills </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with high school faculty across content areas </li><li>Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills </li><li>Ability to manage a large, diverse student population in a high-volume learning environment </li><li>Experience supporting project-based learning and interdisciplinary instruction </li><li>Commitment to culturally responsive practices and equitable access to information </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Active 062 Library Media Specialist Certification from the Connecticut State Department of Education </li><li>Master's Degree in Library Science or related field preferred </li><li>Experience working in a high school library/media setting strongly preferred </li><li>Demonstrated ability to integrate technology in support of teaching and learning </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Danbury Board of Education may find appropriate </li></ul> <p>Salary: Salary and wages are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between NEA Danbury and the Danbury Board of Education which can be found on our website.</p>
