We invite you to be part of a transformation in education and to inspire a diverse group of scholars with a lifelong love of learning.</p> <p>About the High School Principal Position</p> <p>The High School Principal serves as the senior academic and culture leader responsible for overseeing the performance and leadership of Brooklyn LAB's high school program. This role ensures that instructional staff are equipped to deliver the organization's academic model, maintain strong instructional practices, and foster a positive, achievement-oriented school culture.</p> <p>The Principal provides coaching, accountability, and strategic direction to ensure the high school meets academic, operational, and cultural expectations and delivers high-quality professional development each week.</p> <p>A successful candidate will be a highly effective instructional and school culture leader, a strong manager of teachers and leaders, and a systems thinker capable of aligning multiple teams around shared academic priorities.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>School Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Manage High School Leadership Team (HSLT) to meet and exceed ambitious goals and priorities. </li><li>Directly supervise and coach high school teachers to ensure strong instructional leadership and effective school management. </li><li>Establish clear performance expectations and accountability systems for teachers aligned with Brooklyn LAB's academic and cultural goals. </li><li>Conduct regular school reviews, leadership meetings, and performance evaluations of teachers. </li><li>Provide strategic oversight across staffing, scheduling, program implementation, and instructional priorities. </li><li>Develop leadership capacity within the HSLT and grade level teams to ensure long-term organizational sustainability. </li></ul> <p>Instructional Leadership & Academic Excellence</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the successful implementation of Brooklyn LAB's academic model across all schools. </li><li>Monitor academic performance, instructional quality, and student outcomes through regular data review and classroom observations. </li><li>Partner with the Chief Academic Officer and SST to ensure high-quality curriculum implementation and instructional rigor for all students. </li><li>Provide effective professional development and instructional coaching systems for teachers. </li><li>Ensure vertical alignment of instruction and academic priorities across middle and high school programs. </li></ul> <p>Special Education Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Ensure the effective delivery of special education services and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. </li><li>Partner with Special Education leadership to ensure that students with disabilities receive high-quality instruction and appropriate supports. </li><li>Monitor the implementation of IEPs, student support systems, and intervention programs. </li><li>Ensure collaboration between general education and special education teams to support inclusive classroom environments and academic success. </li></ul> <p>School Culture & Student Experience</p> <ul> <li>Lead the organization's vision for strong and positive school culture across the high school. </li><li>Support teachers in implementing consistent behavior expectations, restorative practices, and student engagement systems. </li><li>Ensure that the school environment is safe, inclusive, and conducive to high academic expectations and student growth. </li><li>Promote strong relationships with families and ensure consistent communication between schools and the broader community. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties as Assigned</p> <ul> <li>To meet the evolving needs of Brooklyn LAB Charter School and its students. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>At least 3 years of experience as a high school principal or network leader </li><li>Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and leading high-performing instructional teams. </li><li>Deep knowledge of instructional leadership, curriculum, and assessment practices. </li><li>Experience managing and coaching school leaders or senior instructional staff. </li><li>Strong understanding of special education systems and compliance requirements. </li><li>Commitment to educational equity and the success of diverse student populations. </li><li>Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational management skills. </li></ul>
