<p>This Opportunity</p> <p>Seeking a mid-career civil engineer with 7+ years of overall experience, and 3+ years of experience after Professional Engineer registration, to provide engineering services during construction for one of the region's marquee projects, the multi-billion-dollar Westside Purple Line Extension (WPLE). The position is in support of WPLE Section 3, which features 2.6 miles of twin tunnels and new subway stations in West Los Angeles. It offers an exceptional opportunity for professional and technical growth for the selected candidate, who will join a team of tunneling and underground station experts and work closely with the Project Manager on complicated design and project management issues. The successful candidate will preferably have a technical design background with knowledge of construction.</p> <p>The Lead Professional, Project Engineer position is full-time at the Metro Project office in Century City (Los Angeles, CA) and reports to the Westside Section 3 Manager.</p> <p>Your Impact</p> <ul> <li>Review and prepare responses to contractor submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and requests for change (RFCs) with respect to technical merit and contract compliance. </li><li>Perform engineering analyses and prepare design plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, reports, and presentations to support project tasks. </li><li>Prepare project change notices, change orders, contract modifications. </li><li>Coordinate with clients and governmental agencies to fulfill the needs of the project to acquire all necessary permits and approvals. </li><li>Support client in resolution of contractor claims including differing site conditions. </li><li>Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting notes. </li><li>Prepare project design deviation requests and requests for special considerations for the project. </li><li>Prepare project transmittals and correspondence. </li><li>Perform constructability reviews and support the construction staff on technical design issues. </li><li>Review and support the project on requests by adjacent property owners and developers. </li><li>Perform occasional site visits to investigate, evaluate, or document project conditions. </li><li>Collaborate with team of interdisciplinary design and construction professionals to complete project tasks and objectives. </li><li>Mentor junior staff. </li><li>Perform additional responsibilities as required. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline. </li><li>7+ of relevant post education experience in engineering and civil design. </li><li>Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.). </li><li>Knowledge of City of Los Angeles, City of Beverly Hills, and County of Los Angeles municipal codes, regulations, permits, construction specifications, and design standards/criteria. </li><li>Working knowledge of general civil engineering design and site development including street work, demolition, grading, drainage, paving, utilities, landscaping, street lighting, permitting, traffic control, signalization, striping, and restoration. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication skills, both written and verbal. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work as part of the team or independently as required, self-manage tasks, and identify and resolve potential project issues before they arise. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software. </li><li>Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Bluebeam. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Professional experience working on design services for local transit, City and County agencies. </li><li>Working knowledge of Los Angeles Metro design criteria, standards and practices. </li><li>Experience working on design build transit projects. </li><li>Knowledge of construction contracts and claims. </li></ul> <p>Telework: Up to two days per week possible after three months of satisfactory performance in the office.</p> <p>WSP Benefits:</p> <p>WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career.
