<p>Cost Engineer (Propulsion - Ice Engine) develops direct material costs and tooling investments for vehicle specific components using activity-based costing methodology while working from bill of materials, drawings and/or samples. Cost Engineer responsibilities will include utilizing Stellantis component cost methodologies and processes to develop, analyze, and provide guidance for cost convergence to internal stakeholders. Cost Engineer will assist the worldwide teams with technical cost evaluation services to estimate component costs for projects in advanced through serial life cycle phases. An ability to be agile, curious, and an engaging cross functional teammate is required to support cost evaluation activities within a global organization.</p> <p>Key deliverables:</p> <ul> <li>Development of component costs for new programs ("cost engineering estimate" at initial concept; "should cost calculation" through bottom-up approach for new & modified purchased components based on the 'how it's made' manufacturing process) </li><li>Provide Engineering support during vehicle development phase for target achievement (Design to Cost) </li><li>Development of tooling costs for new programs </li><li>Provide purchasing support during supplier negotiations through gap analysis of supplier's price breakdown detail </li><li>Support of the Global Cost Initiative and World Wide Component Cost comparisons/studies </li><li>Support of Benchmarking and Value Optimization (VO) activities including support of serial life should cost requests </li><li>The CE works closely with Engineering, Buyer, other internal department functions, Finance and supplier representatives </li></ul> <p>Key responsibilities include but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Research relevant market trends, industrial standards, and innovations </li><li>Perform Competitive Benchmarking and suggest value optimization ideas to programs to ensure the competitiveness of Stellantis solutions </li><li>Identify potential cost optimization opportunities and support company technical cost reduction activities. This may include periodic Supplier visits to maintain & improve internal know-how of manufacturing processes & best practices </li><li>Provide global component cost comparison analysis by working within the Cost Engineering community </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related scientific field </li><li>A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Auto industry </li><li>Excellent communication skills and ability to create high quality presentation materials and reports for presentation to management levels </li><li>Must demonstrate a high level of organization and ability to track a high number of part numbers and part complexity </li><li>Proficient in MS Office suite of tools including PowerPoint, Excel and Word </li><li>Ability to interface with all levels of the enterprise, across multiple organizations and regions </li><li>Familiarity to ICE Engine design, components, and manufacturing processes </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master of science degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering preferred. </li><li>Working knowledge of component development and the steps required to deliver a solution </li><li>Familiarity with Cost Model elements and how to apply Activity Based Costing to component cost development </li></ul>
