We learn, grow, and achieve more - in our careers and in our communities.</p> <p>Job Description Summary:</p> <p>CPE Trainee positions are temporary, unpaid educational roles that typically run from September/October to May or from May/June to August each year. Student Chaplains occupy these positions for the duration of their accepted Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training. Upon completion of the educational unit, CPE Trainees are terminated unless they are transferred to another position.</p> <p>The Pastoral Care CPE Trainee is a student Chaplain responsible for providing pastoral and spiritual support to patients, family members or significant others, and staff within the assigned healthcare setting, under the supervision of a Staff Chaplain. The Pastoral Care CPE Trainee functions as part of an interfaith pastoral care team, participating in activities such as patient care, on-call duties, and facilitating meaningful worship experiences.</p> <p>Age Groups Served:</p> <ul> <li>Infants and children: 0-12 years </li><li>Adolescents: 12-18 years </li><li>Adults: 18-65 years </li><li>Older Adults: 65+ years </li></ul> <p>Specialized Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Optional: Completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE, NACC, CASC) or equivalent faith-based leadership experience. </li><li>Knowledge of crisis intervention and counseling skills. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities And Duties:</p> <p>60%: Under supervision, provides direct patient care as requested for emergent and routine requests. Assesses spiritual needs/concerns of patients and their families using clinical pastoral conversation. Communicates and documents patient interactions and consults frequently with chaplain educator. Assists in creating an optimal patient experience through development of respectful and compassionate relationships with patients, families, and staff.</p> <p>20%: Participates in on-call rotation which includes overnight and weekend shifts.</p> <p>10%: Provides appropriate religious/spiritual rituals, non-pharmacological interventions to patients, families, and inter-professional team.
