<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Associate General Counsel (Aspire Non-QM Business) will provide legal support to the Redwood Trust's Aspire Non-QM Banking Business (including capital markets, whole loan trading, securitization, mortgage loan servicing, regulatory compliance, investment portfolio and business development teams), with a strong focus on drafting and negotiating complex contracts for the purchase and sale of residential mortgage loans. Documentation will include, among others, residential mortgage loan purchase, sale and servicing agreements (MLPSAs), nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), commitment letters, bailee agreements and related documentation.</p> <p>The Associate General Counsel (Aspire Non-QM Business) will also provide legal support for the issuance of residential mortgage backed securities collateralized by non-QM residential mortgage loans acquired by the Aspire Non-QM Banking Business, the oversight of outstanding securitization transactions, the tracking of industry developments and implementation of regulatory reforms relating to the structured finance industry and other legal and compliance matters that arise in the ordinary course of operating a mortgage loan aggregation platform. Depending on experience, background and interest, this role may also involve broader corporate level legal and litigation matters.</p> <p>The position reports to the Senior Vice President - Residential Legal located in Englewood, Colorado.</p> <p>This position would be based in one of Redwood Trust's offices (noted above) in California, New York, Colorado or North Carolina. The role would have a minimum in-office presence of four days per week, with an option to work remotely on Fridays.</p> <p>Responsibilities & Duties</p> <p>The Associate General Counsel (Aspire Non-QM Business) will generally interact directly with the Aspire Non-QM Banking Business's legal, capital markets, operations and servicing teams and operate independently on a day-to-day basis, with close support from the Senior Vice President - Residential Legal, as well as support from the Chief Legal Officer of Redwood Trust, Inc. and other attorneys within the Redwood legal team. Redwood's legal/compliance team works closely and collaboratively with each other and with the various business and administrative functions of the company.</p> <p>Required Experience & Education</p> <ul> <li>Juris Doctorate from nationally recognized law school with strong academic credentials </li><li>2-4 years working experience as an attorney in the subject matter (law firm or in-house), with prior experience in transactional and/or regulatory matters relating to non-QM residential mortgage loans </li><li>The ability to communicate effectively with team members, meet deadlines timely and deliver quality results in an often-high pressure environment </li></ul> <p>A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $150,000-$175,000. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors.
