<p>Summary</p> <p>Primary responsibility is the patient care - supporting diagnostic and treatment procedures - patient charting and patient education - which do not require a full professional audiology education - or knowledge and skills represented by Audiology Licensures. Support functions include both direct patient care and administrative duties. In addition - the incumbent must be able to mentor and train new health technicians (Audiology).</p> <p>Duties</p> <ul> <li>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Greets and escorts patients </li><li>Patient instruction and counseling on hearing loss or hearing aids either on an individual basis or in a group setting </li><li>Conducts hearing pass/fail screenings without interpretation </li><li>Non-diagnostic otoscopy </li><li>Cerumen management </li><li>Takes earmold impressions </li><li>Hearing aid troubleshooting and repair </li><li>Provides basic hearing aid information for patients and caregivers </li><li>Performs listening checks on hearing aids </li><li>Electroacoustic analysis of devices </li><li>Pairs hearing aids and accessories via Bluetooth technology </li><li>Programs previously stored settings into hearing aids </li><li>Activating remote controls </li><li>Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all interaction in the medical records and that all encounters are correctly documented using electronic medical record and computerized tracking and ordering functions via ROES </li><li>Manages office supplies - tracks loaner stock hearing aid inventory - electronic ordering - verifies orders upon arrival to ensure components are present and working correctly </li><li>Places RTC orders for appointments </li><li>Packages and mails hearing aids and accessories </li><li>Processes ROES transactions (e.g. - certifying and issuing hearing aids - entering orders and repairs) </li><li>Responds to routine inquiries from patients - including determining nature of hearing aid inquiry and responding to administrative questions </li><li>Assists patients - visitors - and other requesting information </li><li>Manages infection control - patient safety - and clinical supplies for the audiology clinic </li><li>Ensures maintenance of lean - disinfected instrumentation - equipment - and work surfaces in the Audiology clinic - Reprocessing reusable medical equipment based on facility policy according to Medical Center infection control procedures and reusable medical equipment policies </li><li>Work Schedule: Monday - Friday </li><li>8:00 am - 4:30 pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases </li><li>When setting pay - a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade) </li><li>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual - based on prior [work experience] or military service experience </li><li>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment - up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth - adoption - or foster care placement of a child </li><li>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment - full time employees with a total family income below $144 -000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66 </li><li>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position </li><li>Functional Statement #: 52076A Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized </li></ul>
