<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Salve Regina University Counseling Education and Expressive Arts Department seeks applications for a new full-time, non-tenure track counselor education faculty member. The ideal person for this position would be a professor of practice, teaching professional counseling classes online and in-person from a social justice equity perspective. Salve Regina offers a 60-credit Counseling Program with two counseling tracks: an in-person Clinical Mental Health Counseling track with a focus on holistic and systemic perspectives and an online Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling track, with a focus on disability justice.</p> <p>The program's current faculty believes in education incorporating holistic perspectives, evidence-based counseling practice, and systemic understanding, including justice, equity, and multiculturalism within counselor education best practices. In addition to counseling standards, our curriculum incorporates the Mercy Sister's Critical concerns: anti-racism, the earth, non-violence, women's issues, and immigration. We strive to ensure that all faculty engage effectively with important philosophies/discourses that support equity-based perspectives. We appreciate and respect each other within and outside academia and look forward to welcoming someone to our team.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Maintaining a full-time course load (4 courses/4 courses) during the 9-month academic contract year, with opportunities for summer teaching if desired. </li><li>An ability to teach across the CACREP core based on the department's needs and the applicant's expertise </li><li>Constructing and maintaining course content through the university learning management system (LMS) </li><li>Advising and mentoring counseling students in their course trajectory and career dynamics </li><li>Participating in continual professional development and the counselor education profession </li><li>Attending regular university, department, and program meetings to ensure a collaborative and cohesive work environment </li><li>Collaborate with the Program Counseling Director, Evaluation Coordinator, and the Clinical Coordinator </li><li>Perform other professional duties as requested by the Graduate Program Director </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Earned doctorate (by start date) in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program </li><li>A teaching perspective that is grounded in a strong counseling identity and a student-centered approach </li><li>Andragogy that integrates the University's Five Critical Concerns as they relate to mental health counseling (immigration, anti-racism, women and gender, non-violence, and the earth), equity, multiculturalism, holism, or systemic injustice </li><li>An ability to teach both online and in-person </li><li>The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements in the U.S. at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue to work legally for the proposed term of employment </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Evidence of counseling, supervision, and teaching experience in Counselor Education </li><li>Interest in clinical course(s) coordination responsibilities </li><li>Be a licensed mental health counselor or license eligible in Rhode Island or have the ability to transfer the license to Rhode Island within a year </li><li>A justice-centered perspective of Counselor Education </li><li>Work experience with underserved populations </li><li>Work experience with not-for-profit or grassroot organizations that prioritize disability justice and racial equity </li><li>Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) eligible and experience supporting rehabilitation counseling students </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salve Regina University offers generous benefits to eligible employees including (waiting periods apply):</p> <ul> <li>health, dental and vision coverage available on the first of the month following date of hire </li><li>403(b) retirement plan through TIAA with employee and employer contributions as well as access to advising services </li><li>long-term disability coverage </li><li>employer-paid life and AD&D insurance </li><li>up to 100% free tuition at Salve for eligible employees and qualified dependents </li><li>robust wellness program and free access to the on-campus Fitness Center </li></ul> <p>Other available benefits include:</p> <ul> <li>supplemental life insurance for employees and dependents </li><li>supplemental insurance coverage through Aflac </li><li>Tuition Exchange scholarship program.
