<p>ASRC Research and Technology Solutions is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Database engineer. This role blends deep network engineering expertise with a data focus to design, implement, and maintain a robust, secure, and data-driven network infrastructure. This position requires a highly motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges. This role is also responsible for critical asset management and reporting functions.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Data Engineering and Analysis:</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and analyzing large network datasets.</p> </li><li> <p>Leverage big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Accumulo) to extract actionable insights from network traffic and performance data.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize data visualization tools and techniques for reporting and analysis.</p> </li><li> <p>Automation and Scripting:</p> </li><li> <p>Automate network tasks and processes using scripting languages like Python and Bash.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain scripts for network monitoring, configuration management, and incident response.</p> </li><li> <p>M2M Communication:</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication solutions to enhance operational efficiency and security, integrating various IoT devices and platforms into the network infrastructure.</p> </li><li> <p>Network Performance Optimization:</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor network performance, identify areas for optimization, and implement solutions to improve bandwidth utilization, reduce latency, and enhance overall network stability.</p> </li><li> <p>Documentation and Reporting:</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare comprehensive network documentation, including operational instructions, diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.</p> </li><li> <p>Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and capacity planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Produce Monthly Metrics charts and complete the Monthly Access Report.</p> </li><li> <p>Technology Evaluation and Recommendation:</p> </li><li> <p>Stay abreast of emerging network and data science technologies. Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance network capabilities and improve data analysis processes.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration and Communication:</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (software developers, security analysts, business stakeholders). Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with DISA OCDO.</p> </li><li> <p>Asset Management:</p> </li><li> <p>Configuration Management of network devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Track asset connection and disconnection events.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain the Verified Production Asset lists.</p> </li><li> <p>Reconcile various inventories and asset lists.</p> </li><li> <p>Track data feeds via the UCSA Data Catalog.</p> </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Requires a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent. </li><li>Experience in network engineering, with demonstrable experience designing and implementing complex network solutions. </li><li>Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), routing, switching, and network security. </li><li>Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud networking concepts. </li><li>Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash). </li><li>Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Accumulo) and data analysis techniques. </li><li>Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques. </li><li>Experience with network automation tools and platforms. </li><li>Experience with SIEM systems. </li><li>Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE). </li></ul>
