<p>The Opportunity</p> <p>MassMutual is at the forefront of innovation in the financial services and insurance industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary leader to join MassMutual's Research & Development (R&D) organization as the Head of Infrastructure R&D. In this key role, you will be responsible for defining and executing a research program on the development and adoption of next-generation capabilities in compute, storage, network and cyber security. This program will span quantum computing and networks, the future of cloud computing, emerging data storage technologies, and cyber security capabilities.</p> <p>The Team</p> <p>The Research and Development organization is focused on delivering transformational change for MassMutual and its clients, financial professionals, and policyholders. We are a team of data scientists, engineers, social scientists, and product and project managers committed to innovation. We value creativity, courage, and accountability as well as our close partnerships with academia, government agencies, and the broader fintech community.</p> <p>The Impact:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and lead a research program spanning advanced and emerging state of the art topics in domains such as compute, storage, network and cyber security. </li><li>Develop roadmaps for projects and pilots and ensure their successful and timely completion. </li><li>Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture and the broader technology team to develop a long-term infrastructure strategies and roadmaps, including cost-benefit analysis and current state implications </li><li>Partner with senior leadership to ensure alignment of research initiatives and company strategy </li><li>Collaborate with inter-disciplinary teams across MassMutual to translate findings into actionable business opportunities and expected timelines for realization </li><li>Design and analyze experiments, conduct their execution and report on results, findings and learnings as appropriate. </li><li>Disseminate findings to internal and external audiences through a variety of media, including interactive visualizations, reports and presentations </li><li>Attract, develop, and retain a high performing team of engineers and scientists </li><li>Mentor junior team members, manage financials, and stay on top of emerging technologies and methodologies </li></ul> <p>The Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD in engineering, computer science, or related disciplines </li><li>7+ years of relevant research experience in emerging domains such as quantum computing, PQC, etc. </li><li>3+ years of experience in managing engineering or research teams, preferably in advanced infrastructure technologies. </li><li>Exceptional problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new concepts, methods, and technologies </li><li>Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment </li><li>Outstanding written and verbal communication skills </li></ul> <p>The Ideal Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Financial Industry knowledge </li><li>Strong publication history in area of expertise </li><li>Demonstrated ability to translate research into business impact </li></ul> <p>What to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team</p> <ul> <li>Regular meetings with the Research and Development team </li><li>Focused one-on-one meetings with your manager </li><li>Networking opportunities including access to Asian, Hispanic/Latinx, African American, women, LGBTQIA+, veteran and disability-focused Business Resource Groups </li><li>Access to learning content on Degreed and other informational platforms </li><li>Your ethics and integrity will be valued by a company with a strong and stable ethical business with industry leading pay and benefits </li></ul> <p>#LI-MC1</p> <p>Salary Range:</p> <p>$185,300.00-$243,100.00</p> <p>At MassMutual, we focus on ensuring fair equitable pay, by providing competitive salaries, along with incentive and bonus opportunities for all employees.
