<p>The Charge Nurse provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This position manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.</p> <ul> <li>Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care. </li><li>Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/significant other in order to address all identified needs. </li><li>Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. </li><li>Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient's responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered. </li><li>Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to the age of the client served. </li><li>Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care. </li><li>Assumes responsibility for daily personnel assignment/monitoring patient care and overall unit activities, in accordance with established standards. </li><li>Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development. </li><li>Supports Professional Governance through engagement and support of the Unit Based Council and other nursing councils. </li><li>Assumes responsibility for overall function of unit in the absence of the clinical manager. </li><li>Collaborates with manager to provide feedback with human resources functions ie. performance. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred or </li><li>Associates Degree Nursing Required or </li><li>Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required </li></ul> <p>Minimum Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>1-3 years clinical nursing experience Required </li></ul> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state license Upon Hire Required </li><li>BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required </li><li>National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) Upon Hire Required </li><li>ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association within 6 Months Required </li></ul> <p>Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated proficiency in nursing, knowledge, and skills. </li><li>Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice </li><li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. </li><li>Demonstrated leadership ability with evidence including, but is not limited to, effective communication skills, ability to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, ability to confront/resolve issues, ability to motivate others, ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of others </li></ul>
