<p>The Student Support Services (SSS) Classic Program is seeking a current Passaic County Community College student for a tutor/mentor position. This person should have strong interpersonal skills to support participants in the program. As a tutor, you will work with fellow students to assist students to improve their reading and writing skills. Tutors are expected to work one-to-one and/or in small groups assisting students. It is the mentor's primary responsibility to serve as a role model for students while supporting them through individual and group meetings toward their success.</p> <p>This is a part-time, hourly position.</p> <p>Mentor Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Create a professional and welcoming environment for our students. </li><li>Conduct check-n meetings with mentees monthly. </li><li>Provide mentees with campus resources and make appropriate referrals if necessary. </li></ul> <p>Tutor Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Possess basic technical computer knowledge. </li><li>Must be dependable, organized, and pay attention to details. </li><li>Must be able to maintain confidentiality, follow through on directions and complete assigned work in a timely manner. </li><li>Must maintain a professional interactive and/or telephone manner, possess respectful verbal communication with both staff and students. </li><li>Provide students with positive and constructive feedback. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must have a B+ or higher in the course providing tutoring and a GPA of 3.0 or above. </li><li>Completed at least two (2) full semesters at PCCC </li><li>Have a flexible schedule with evening and Saturday availability. </li></ul> <p>The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.</p> <p>Compensation: The hourly pay for this position is $16.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>New Jersey Sick Leave: Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year.
