<p>Performs technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex traffic signal systems, arterial street lighting, and control equipment; leads and directs traffic signalization projects and the inspection, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems and components. Provides training and oversight to Level 1 & 2 signal technicians.</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM</p> <p>What Would You Do?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Leads and directs the installation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and fabrication of all traffic signal devices in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), State and County standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Leads, trains, and mentors level 1 & 2 Traffic Signal Technicians.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs construction inspection duties for new signal construction to ensure quality and compliance of products and services.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes daily reports on all field activities, dispatched calls, work orders, and service requests utilizing computer work order system.</p> </li><li> <p>Interprets blueprints, schematics, engineering plans, GIS maps, and technical manuals.</p> </li><li> <p>Directs and sets up work zone for job site in accordance with MUTCD, State and County standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Identifies, reports, and corrects visibility obstructions that pose traffic hazards.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains stock levels on trucks per the supervisor's direction and restocks as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains an inventory of maintenance and operational supplies, tools, equipment, etc., and services them on a routine basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Directs, verifies, and performs pre-work inspections on vehicles and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Informs supervisor of potential hazards, problem areas, citizen inquires, and work activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to personnel, safety, and departmental policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to assist the Signs and Markings section in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of signs.</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to assist with special events in the areas of traffic control.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs emergency on-call duty as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>What Do You Need To Have?</p> <ul> <li> <p>A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required and four (4) years of work experience performing traffic signal installation, repair, and maintenance; or</p> </li><li> <p>An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must possess Florida Driver's License and be able to obtain Florida Class-B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>Possession and maintenance of an International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Level III Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Other knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials as required for the position.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of electronics and electricity.</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced knowledge of methods, practices, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment pertinent to construction, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and electromechanical traffic signal systems, controls, and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to read and comprehend schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to train Level 1 & 2 technicians to diagnose, repair, and maintain electronic, electrical, and electromechanical devices and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to keep accurate records, prepare and submit clear and accurate reports, and plan and supervise the work of others.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently in the field and make critical decisions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous tasks and assignments.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to maintain an effective and professional working relationship with employees, contractors, and the general public.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions and work in confined spaces and at considerable heights, and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and carry heavy objects and stand and walk for long periods.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use small office equipment, computers, and highly technical computer applications.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use small, medium, and heavy equipment and machinery.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to install communications systems and computer hardware or network systems.</p> </li></ul> <p>Why choose Pinellas County?</p> <p>When you join Pinellas County, you're not just taking on a job-you're investing in your future.
