<p>The General Manager (GM) is responsible for ensuring the daily operations, financial success, and overall performance of assigned retail stores. Reporting to the District Manager, the GM leads and develops a team of 2-3 Store Managers, ensuring stores operate in alignment with company standards while driving sales, profitability, and team success.</p> <p>Location: Kansas City International Airport (MCI)</p> <p>Schedule: Mandatory weekend availability</p> <p>Pay: $90,000-95,000 annually</p> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance </li><li>Free Life Insurance </li><li>Short- & Long-Term Disability Insurance </li><li>Paid Time Off </li><li>401k with company match </li><li>Employee Discount </li></ul> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage sales, shrink and all controllable expenses. </li><li>Effectively & proactively recruit and develop store teams. </li><li>Manage team to ensure progressive improvement of store performance. </li><li>Partners with property management and maintain continuous communication. </li><li>Comply with all company Policy and Procedures and holds teams accountable for the same. </li><li>Utilizes performance appraisals and continuous coaching effectively to develop management. </li><li>Ensures that the management and sales staff is trained and developed to meet company expectations. </li><li>Maintains well documented financial controls and accountability. </li><li>Ensures that a clean, fresh, and orderly store environment is maintained. </li><li>Effectively communicate with District Manager regarding any employee issues. </li><li>Collaborate with Buying team to ensure inventory and stock levels are in line to maximize business. </li><li>Oversee the effective merchandising of inventory. </li><li>Other duties may be assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree preferred, High School diploma required. </li><li>3 years + experience in multi-unit leadership in a retail environment. </li><li>Understands and can speak to Retail Math including all KPI's </li><li>Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite </li><li>Passion for phenomenal customer service and is results/goal oriented </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Comfortable managing a team and highly self-motivated. </li><li>Organized, detail oriented, and strong time management skills. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <p>Mobility</p> <ul> <li>Limited sitting </li><li>Frequent standing, walking, climbing, crouching, bending, pushing, or pulling </li></ul> <p>Visual / Hearing</p> <ul> <li>Normal or corrected vision and hearing </li><li>Can distinguish varying patterns, or materials </li></ul> <p>Language</p> <ul> <li>Understand, speak, read, and write fluent English </li></ul> <p>Physical Activity</p> <ul> <li>Use of fine motor hand functions </li><li>Lift 0-60 lbs. </li></ul> <p>About Us</p> <p>WHSmith is a leading global travel retailer with over 1,700 stores across 30 countries worldwide.
