<p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Interpret and enforce all flag football rules. </li><li>Safety and direct supervision of youth program participants </li><li>Serve as a positive role model to the participants. </li><li>Perform set-up and take-down of program related equipment. </li><li>Complete necessary paperwork specific to job responsibilities (attendance forms, accident/incident report forms, facility checklists, scorecards, etc.) </li><li>Invoke and impose penalties for violations of said rules. </li><li>Make decisions on any point not specifically covered in said rules. </li><li>Examine equipment and playing area. </li></ul> <p>OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Communicate clearly and effectively with parents, coaches, and participants. </li><li>Attend all required staff meetings and trainings. </li><li>Work closely with the Parks and Recreation Department staff and volunteers to ensure all department rules and policies are observed. </li><li>Must be currently enrolled in high school at a minimum. </li><li>Experience working with children. </li><li>Physically capable of performing and demonstrating program related activities. </li><li>Able to work duration of the program as assigned by supervisor. </li><li>Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members and the public in a courteous and tactful manner. </li><li>Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per the City of Appleton dress code. </li><li>Knowledge of the rules and officiating skills of the game of football. </li><li>Ability to work accurately under pressure. </li></ul> <p>Employment Season: September - October (Training August)</p> <p>Days/Hours per day: Tuesdays, 2 - 4 hours</p> <p>Work Location: Appleton Memorial Park</p> <p>Minimum Age Requirement: 14 years old</p> <p>Youth Sport Official I - Pay Grade 2; $13.41-$17.52/hour; Minimum of a high school student.</p> <p>Youth Sport Official II - Pay Grade 4; $17.52-$19.58/hour; Minimum of a high school graduate/GED; Two years of officiating experience or a combination of past experience at the junior high or high school level. Serves as a mentor and advocate to other officials.</p> <p>Youth Sport Official III - Pay Grade 8; $19.59-$22.66/hour; Minimum of a high school graduate/GED; Four years of officiating experience or a combination of past experience at the junior high or high school level. Serves as a mentor and advocate to other officials. Has earned the respect of participants, coaches, and the public through past work in the department.</p>
