<p>The Pharmacist Resident post graduate year 1 provides pharmaceutical care during all learning experiences and service component throughout the organization in a fashion that adheres to current regulations and laws. This position is responsible for completing all goals and objectives and required competencies for individual learning experiences and the overall residency program Responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication orders including the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. This position maintains standards set by the department and translates policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy. This position is responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug related information and literature. Incumbents must be enrolled with the National Matching Services' Resident Matching Program (RMP) and adhere to the rules of the RMP process. Candidates are required to submit the following: Letter of intent - describing his/her goals and objectives for the residency program and areas of interest; A current curriculum vitae; An official transcript from his/her college of pharmacy; and Three letters of recommendation. Two letters must be from a preceptor and/or professor.</p> <ul> <li>Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the pharmacy as defined by the scope of service to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. </li><li>Responsible for all counseling of patients upon request. </li><li>Responsible for interpretation of physician medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness, informing them of any errors, omissions, or discrepancies and, based on an evaluation of the patient's condition, suggests appropriate or alternate drug therapy to the physician. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining accurate and proper patient medication profiles, monitoring to insure the proper choice of drug, dosage form, strength, length of therapy and interaction potential of the prescribed drug. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of, and conforming to legal requirements concerning the distribution of drugs, as well as good working knowledge of recent developments in the field of pharmacy (self continuing education by attending available conferences, meetings and seminars). </li><li>Assumes supervisory responsibilities as required, for the coordination of weekend and evening shifts which include supervising supportive personnel, assigning work and delegating tasks and responsibilities, and for handling problems that arise during the absence or unavailability of the director of pharmacy services. </li><li>Maintains and assures quality control standards of the department by conducting drug usage evaluations (DUE) and quality assurance (QA) programs within guidelines of the Joint Commission. </li><li>Responsible for conducting in-service education lectures for medical staff, nurses, pharmacists, students, and other health care personnel regarding drugs, procedures, and policies. </li><li>Responsible for intradepartmental communication by staff meeting and in-service attendance. Also responsible for knowing content of departmental staff meeting minutes and memos. Maintains a working knowledge of the pharmacy policy and procedure manual. </li><li>Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development. </li><li>Satisfactorily completes all requirements for completion of the residency. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Education</p> <ul> <li>Doctorate Pharmacy Required or </li></ul> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Pharmacist Licensed State of Florida within 120 Days Required </li></ul>
