<p>Student Worker - Office Assistant</p> <p>Number of Openings: 1 - 2</p> <p>Purpose/Objective of the Role:</p> <p>The Office Assistant position offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in administrative operations while supporting the professional staff in the Office of Residential Life. This role is essential in maintaining a welcoming and organized environment for students, parents, and visitors.</p> <p>Tasks & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide customer service to students and visitors to the office </li><li>Answer phone calls and record messages for staff </li><li>Run errands to various campus offices and departments </li><li>Complete administrative work such as filing, alphabetizing, shredding, etc. </li><li>Serve as a resource person to students and parents, providing information and referrals as necessary </li><li>Keep the office area clean and organized </li><li>Work to develop positive relationships with all the Residential Life staff in the office </li><li>Assist with early arrival group check-in processes </li><li>Perform additional administrative tasks as requested by Residential Life professional staff </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to provide excellent customer service in a professional and friendly manner </li><li>Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented </li><li>Capable of handling confidential information responsibly </li><li>Proficient in basic office tasks such as filing, alphabetizing, and organizing </li><li>Familiarity with the campus layout and resources (preferred) </li><li>Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks as assigned </li></ul> <p>Potential Future Career Benefit:</p> <ul> <li>Professional Communication: Develop strong customer service and interpersonal skills through interactions with diverse groups, including students, parents, and staff. </li><li>Organizational Skills: Gain experience in managing administrative tasks, maintaining records, and organizing workflows effectively. </li><li>Time Management: Balance multiple responsibilities in a professional office environment. </li><li>Team Collaboration: Work closely with professional staff and peers to achieve office goals and build a positive work culture. </li><li>Problem-Solving: Learn to provide information, make referrals, and handle inquiries with professionalism and efficiency. </li><li>Campus Networking: Build connections across campus offices and departments, fostering relationships that could support career growth. </li></ul> <p>NOTE: Employment sponsorship is not available for this position.
