<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The advanced Audit Chemist is responsible for evaluating municipal, industrial, commercial, public water supply, and public health laboratories that analyze wastewater, surface water, soils, sediments, organic liquids, hazardous waste, and groundwater samples, as well as evaluating laboratories performing analyses in support of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The advanced Audit Chemist is expected to be proficient in inorganic and organic analysis including liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS, LC/MS/MS) and high-resolution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HRGC/MS) procedures. The advanced Audit Chemist will aid in training new auditors.</p> <p>For more information, please see the Position Description.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Starting pay for this position is between $34.97 to $38.50 per hour (or $72,737 to $80,080 annually), in addition to excellent benefits. Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Background Checks: The Department of Natural Resources conducts criminal background checks on final applicants prior to job offer. Employees with approved remote work arrangements are generally expected to work within the state of Wisconsin.</p> <p>Travel: The position requires frequent travel (2 - 4 times a month). Travel in-state and out-of-state is required. Out-of-state travel is less frequent but can be as long as a week at a time.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Please make sure to describe and provide detailed examples within your resume and/or letter of qualifications for EACH of the following qualifications you meet.</p> <p>Required qualifications include experience in ALL the following criteria:</p> <ul> <li>Professional working experience analyzing and/or auditing samples for organic compounds including at least one of the following technologies: liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS, LC/MS/MS), gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and high-resolution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HRGC/MS) procedures. </li><li>Experience reviewing (peer-review, auditing, etc.) analytical data and standard operating procedures for quality assurance and quality control requirements. </li><li>Experience communicating (verbal and written) scientific technical information to diverse audiences (e.g., customers, peers, management, public meetings, etc.). </li></ul> <p>In addition, preferred qualifications include any of the following criteria:</p> <ul> <li>Experience interpreting State of Wisconsin administrative codes and statutes. </li><li>Experience interpreting requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act (e.g. following sample receiving requirements, detection limit requirements, approved methods, reporting, etc.). </li><li>Attended and passed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lab Certification Officer Training for Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>If viewing this posting on an external site (such as indeed.com, etc.), please visit Wisc.Jobs and search for this Job ID: 20040 to complete your application for this posting.
