Assist with front office and back-office responsibilities as needed. New grads are welcome to apply. Great opportunity for a second job. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care to patients and families along the health-illness continuum in diverse health care settings while collaborating with the health care team. The LPN is accountable to practice within the scope of practice outlined by the Ohio Board of Nursing under the direction of a Registered Nurse.</p> <p>Responsibilities And Duties:</p> <p>70%</p> <p>:Implements nursing interventions; performs and documents nursing activities appropriate to patient age, size, and developmental needs and with attention to the diverse needs of patients and families. Such nursing activities include:1. Administers medications through all routes except IV; 2. Inserts Foley catheter, nasogastric tube; verifies and transcribes physician care orders;3. Checks accuracy of medication administration record MAR ; 4. Completes documentation of activities; 5. Assists RN and physician with invasive procedures.6. Obtains EKG as ordered.Performs the following activities after basic arrhythmia course: 1. Obtains, mounts, and interprets cardiac rhythm strips, reports observations to registered nurse; 2. Travels with patients on telemetryPerforms the following patient care activities on adults or pediatric patients after successfully completing an Ohio Board of Nursing approved LPN Intravenous IV Course: 1. Performs veni-puncture in hands, forearms, and/or antecubital fossa; 2. Verifies type of IV solution being administered; 3. Regulates and monitors the prescribed flow rate; 4. Examines infusion site and extremity for possible infiltration/inflammation; 5. Changes intravenous tubing on peripheral intravenous infusions only; discontinues only those lines that terminate in a peripheral vein; 6. Performs routine infusion site dressing changes to central and peripheral sites. 7. Changes dressings on arterial line, subclavian central venous catheters CVC and peripherally inserted central catheters PICC . 8. May inject heparin or normal saline to flush peripheral intermittent infusion device or heparin lock including, but not limited to bolus or push.9. Initiates and hangs subsequent infusions for peripheral intravenous infusions as outlined by the State Board of Nursing LPN scope of practice.10. Initiates or maintains intravenous piggyback infusion containing antibiotics only</p> <p>15%</p> <p>Assists registered nurse with the following: 1. Coordination of patient flow, e.g. admissions, transfers, discharges. 2. Communication and participation in shift reports, staff meetings, physician rounds, multi-disciplinary team. 3. Management and planning for resources including personnel, supplies and equipment and maintains safe and efficient environment. 4. Meeting identified learning needs of patients, patients, families and significant others</p> <p>15%</p> <p>Works in collaboration with the Registered nurse. Receive direction from RN assigned to patient population. Under direction of RN, contributes to nursing assessment of patient by observing, collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data and contributing to development, evaluation and revision of the nursing component for individual plan of care. May delegate to UAP after RN direction to do so.In the Outpatient/Ambulatory setting, the LPN may collect patient data in person or via telephone. He/she may also record the data collected and communicate all of the above to the physician as part of the patient's continuity of care.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>High School or GED (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - National Council of State Boards of Nursing</p> <p>Additional Job Description:</p> <p>Graduate from an accredited school or program of practical nursing. Must hold a current license from the state of Ohio. successfully completed Ohio Board of Nursing approved medication course.
