The Accounting Manager, Central Accounting position will report to the Senior Accounting Manager, Central Accounting to manage the day-to-day responsibilities of a highly dynamic team. You will serve as the LAZ Home Office centralized accounting support specialist and as a key liaison for various accounting functions that will require a high level of communication and multi-faceted interface with the following key stakeholders across Home Office departments, regional operations, and external vendors.</p> <p>Work Location:</p> <ul> <li>Home Office (Hartford, CT) - Hybrid schedule </li></ul> <p>Principal Job Duties:</p> <p>Technical and monthly routine responsibilities include compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures, including but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Lead and support a team of 6 high-performing accountants responsible for key centralized functions, including accounting for insurance programs, recording of payroll, fixed assets, national allocations, e-commerce reporting, and other core financial operations, to achieve excellence in financial reporting and compliance. </li><li>Oversee the daily processes for LAZ's centralized accounting team including standard monthly journal entries, process questions, and monthly bank and account reconciliations. </li><li>Act as the subject matter expert on LAZ's internal accounting processes, providing guidance and ensuring consistency in application of LAZ accounting policies. </li><li>Achieve timely completion of monthly and year-end close processes within established deadlines. </li><li>Collaborate with the Senior Manager on strategic initiatives that align with the centralized accounting function, such as shortening the monthly close cycle, implementing process improvements, and enhancing accounting efficiency. </li><li>Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely recording of national allocations. </li><li>Assist with internal and external audit requirements related to processes the team oversees with necessary documentation and support. </li><li>Delegation of tasks to team members. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. </li><li>CPA or CMA certification is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Proven work experience as an accounting leader or similar role. </li><li>Strong knowledge of accounting principles. </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic work environment. </li><li>Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel. </li><li>Strong organizational and leadership skills. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict monthly deadlines. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift, push and pull at least 10lbs. </li></ul> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
