<p>Employment Type:</p> <p>Part time</p> <p>Shift:</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>Trinity Health in Muskegon is hiring Nurse externs in Med/Surg units. These nurse externs will work relief (per diem) minimum of 32 hours a month. Orientation would be M-F from 8a-4:30p. You will be asked to submit one clinical instructor feedback form as well as transcripts showing you are in last year of Nursing school upon application and complete some testing. The nurse extern skills guidelines are as follows:</p> <p>Nurse Extern may perform include but may not be limited to (provided they have had theory related to procedure in school) with documentation co-signed by a licensed registered nurse:</p> <p>Admission assessment</p> <p>Initiate clinical path/care plan</p> <p>Document care given on appropriate records</p> <p>Pre-op preparation:</p> <p>Teaching</p> <p>Reviewing chart</p> <p>Monitoring and maintaining the following:</p> <p>Feeding pump</p> <p>JP drain</p> <p>Heating pad</p> <p>Specialty beds</p> <p>ICP</p> <p>CBI</p> <p>CPM</p> <p>Foley Cath Care</p> <p>Suction: NG, Salem, Pleuravac</p> <p>SP Cath Care</p> <p>Hemovac</p> <p>May perform the following clinical skills:</p> <ul> <li>Foley insertion </li><li>Patient positioning </li><li>NG insertion </li><li>Suctioning </li><li>Dressing changes </li><li>Trach care </li><li>Suture/staple removal </li><li>Tube feedings </li><li>Vital signs </li><li>Wound care </li><li>Enemas </li></ul> <p>Skills that MAY NOT be performed:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Maintaining IV's, IV pumps, PCA's, IVPB</p> </li><li> <p>Initiating or assisting with the administration of blood or blood products (except vital sign monitoring)</p> </li><li> <p>Passing medications</p> </li><li> <p>Taking physician phone or verbal orders</p> </li></ol> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Minimum: High School diploma.</p> </li><li> <p>Current enrollment in last year of an accredited RN or BSN program and remains in good standing.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have successfully completed the first year of nursing clinicals and skills validation through an accredited ADN nursing program.</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain current nursing knowledge and BLS certification.</p> </li></ol> <p>Our Commitment</p> <p>Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
