<p>Department</p> <p>The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University. Learn more about The Ringling at https://www.ringling.org/careers.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>This intern will help the Youth and Family Program Coordinator with planning, preparation, and implementation of a wide variety of summer programs at The Ringling Museum of Art. In addition, The Youth and Family Intern will conduct research and develop in-gallery activities for summer and future programs.</p> <p>Responsibilities of the Youth and Family Intern will include:</p> <ul> <li>Helping to plan, prep, and implement summer programs such as ROAR!, Family Art Making, and Open Studio. </li><li>Facilitating Family Nights at The Museum. </li><li>Assisting with a multi-part teen program and helping to facilitate art making activities with a variety of age ranges at The Ringling. </li><li>Researching and developing future programming and related materials that interest the intern. </li><li>Attending weekly Education Team meetings and learning about other programs and opportunities within the Education department at The Ringling Museum. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to start internship promptly on June 5, 2026, and stay through July 31, 2026.</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or GED equivalent and currently pursuing a higher education degree.</p> </li><li> <p>Interest in working with children and families.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to:</p> </li><li> <p>Use Microsoft Suite programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with setup and clean-up of art-making programs at the museum, which will include bending, reaching, and lifting up to 15 lbs.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to hire.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience using Canva. </li><li>Effective organizational and communication skills. </li><li>Degree seeking in and/or coursework related to art, art history, art education, museum studies, history, or anthropology. </li><li>Experience working with children. </li><li>Excellent research and writing skills. </li></ul> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Through the position of Youth and Family intern, the selected candidate will achieve the following learning outcomes:</p> <ul> <li>Learn the steps in planning and implementing a program at a large art museum. </li><li>Gain experience researching and writing educational materials for public audiences. </li><li>Gain experience working with children of all ages and their families. </li><li>Collaborate with other members of the education team and museum staff. </li><li>Work with volunteers at The Ringling in a collaborative setting. </li><li>Expand their knowledge of art/art history through The Ringling's collection and additional educational opportunities throughout the summer. </li></ul> <p>Helpful</p> <p>Anticipated Timeline for Applicant Notifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Between mid-February and early March 2026 candidates will be notified if selected or not for an interview.</p> </li><li> <p>Offers will be made to the top candidate by end of March 2026.</p> </li><li> <p>Employment paperwork must be completed no later than May 15, 2026, and includes:</p> </li><li> <p>Completing a level 2 background check (must be completed within the United States)</p> </li><li> <p>Uploading images of your signed social security card, driver's license, and DMV verification of valid driver's license into the employee onboarding portal.</p> </li><li> <p>Interns will begin on June 5th with New Hire Orientation at 9:00 AM.</p> </li><li> <p>Internships will end on July 31, 2026.</p> </li></ul> <p>Contact Info</p> <p>Questions?
