We welcome your interest in joining us and look forward to meeting you!</p> <p>Responsibilities: The teacher will provide Spanish instruction to middle school students as a member of a six person team and will perform other classroom</p> <p>teaching duty assignments consistent with the requirements of the position.</p> <p>Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:</p> <ul> <li>Current World Language (Spanish #023, Grades 4-12) Connecticut Certification; </li><li>Interest in working in a high-performing district in a middle school environment and commitment to promoting a positive culture; </li><li>Ability to work with others in attaining team objectives and accomplishing interdisciplinary objectives for students, including technology integration; </li><li>Evidence of thorough understanding of unique needs of adolescents and how their characteristics impact curriculum and instruction; </li><li>Evidence of expertise in working with children in a heterogeneous classroom setting and ability to differentiate instruction; </li><li>Familiarity of and/or experience in teaching world language and understanding of best practices in Spanish; </li><li>Familiarity and/or experience in utilizing small group instruction to support a wide-range of learners; </li><li>Effective classroom management skills that promote a positive learning environment; </li><li>Willingness to participate in collaborative lesson planning; </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills; and </li><li>Knowledge of effective MTSS practices. </li></ul> <p>Application: Interested applicants are invited to apply online via the following link.</p> <p>https://www.applitrack.com/newtown/onlineapp/default.aspx</p> <p>The Newtown Public School District is committed to a policy of equal opportunity/affirmative action for all qualified persons.
