<p>LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST</p> <p>SCHOOL YEAR 2024 - 2025</p> <p>Assignments and Locations to be determined</p> <p>The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for Library Media Specialist teaching positions that may become available within our division for the 2024 - 2025 school year.</p> <p>Please note this is a "continuous recruit posting" to build an applicant pool for all schools. As positions become available, all qualified applicants with complete application files will be considered. Should a specific location/job be posted, you may also be required to apply to that posting.</p> <p>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The Library Media Specialist works with teachers and other school staff to provide skills and materials to supplement student learning. Responsibilities include maintaining an updated and efficiently functioning library; maintaining and upgrading library materials; supervising the circulation of library materials; instructing students on how to use the library; and performing management duties related to the library.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher's License with appropriate endorsement as a Library Media Specialist </li><li>Have knowledge of books and literature </li><li>Have experience and expertise in applying technology in an educational setting </li><li>Have strong written, verbal, research, and organization skills </li><li>Have experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment </li><li>Have experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration and course work </li><li>Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with parents and families </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate with a team of other teachers </li><li>Ability to be dependable and punctual </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with the selection and utilization of library media materials and equipment, including the various technologies found in the media centers </li><li>Experience with the organization, administration, and evaluation of a library media center, including ethical issues </li><li>Familiarity with the role of the library media specialist as a resource person for students and professional staff in curriculum design and the integration of library media services in instruction </li><li>Experienced or have familiarity with virtual education </li></ul> <p>Salary: Teachers' salary scale with benefits (commensurate with experience)</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>Equal Employment Opportunity</p> <p>The Montgomery County School Board is an equal opportunity employer, committed to</p> <p>nondiscrimination in recruitment, selection, hiring, pay, promotion, retention, or other personnel action</p> <p>affecting employees or candidates for employment.
