The MA will work under the direct supervision of the clinic director and assistant director. The MA will utilize Athena, our electronic medical record and serve as an interpreter as needed.</p> <p>Key Outcomes:</p> <p>In the first 90 days, the Medical Assistant will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Learn and live the Americares values.</p> </li><li> <p>Complete all require new hire onboarding trainings.</p> </li><li> <p>Successfully complete of the orientation timeframe.</p> </li><li> <p>Understand the flow of the clinic.</p> </li><li> <p>Have an excellent understanding of their role in the clinic.</p> </li><li> <p>Be capable of handling the patients of one provider each day.</p> </li></ul> <p>In the first 6 months, the Medical Assistant will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Have a full understanding of their role and be able to independently care for the patients for one provider.</p> </li><li> <p>Be able to independently perform all point of care testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Have an understanding of the RetinaVue and Spirometry tests.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in other aspects of the clinic as needed.</p> </li></ul> <p>In the first year, the Medical Assistant will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Demonstrate success and independence in their role assisting more than one provider at a time.</p> </li><li> <p>Successfully perform all testing that is able to be performed at the clinic.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate other aspects of the role within the clinic, such as scheduling appointments, canceling appointments and an elementary understanding of the referral process for patient visits and tests outside of the clinic.</p> </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prepare patients to be seen by a provider by asking and documenting the results of assessment questions, medical and social history as well as obtaining vital signs.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with all aspects of the patient visit to the clinic</p> </li><li> <p>Perform all point of care testing</p> </li><li> <p>Perform electrocardiograms, RetinaVue and Spirometry testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate to patients of normal tests results</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with interpretation for providers throughout the exam.</p> </li></ul> <p>Degrees and/or experience required for the role:</p> <ul> <li>3-5 years of Medical Assistant experience OR have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program and have 1-3 years of Medical Assistant experience. </li></ul> <p>These competencies are required for the role:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bilingual English/Spanish, and demonstrated ability to interpret important medical conversations between a patient and provider.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to perform point of care testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to perform EKG, RetinaVue and Spirometry testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with adults with chronic health conditions and educate patients on materials within the MA scope of work.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to work compassionately while managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.</p> </li></ul> <p>US work authorization is required for this role.</p> <p>These competencies would be great to have, but are not required:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working in a free clinic setting with the uninsured. </li></ul> <p>Additionally, our core competencies as an organization are:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ownership and results</p> </li><li> <p>Communication</p> </li><li> <p>Problem solving</p> </li><li> <p>Equity and inclusion</p> </li><li> <p>Teamwork and conflict resolution</p> </li><li> <p>Leadership</p> </li><li> <p>Prioritization</p> </li><li> <p>Management</p> </li><li> <p>Strategy and planning</p> </li><li> <p>Decision making</p> </li></ul> <p>We know not all applicants will demonstrate all the competencies we're looking for, and that women and underrepresented groups tend to not apply unless they meet all the requirements.
